World Scale WP30 Portion Control Scale The WP30 Portion Control Scale is a free-standing scale for general weighing applications, such as portion control. WC30 Price Computing Scale The WC30 Price Computing Scale is a free-standing scale for price totaling of weighed and non-weighed products, from candies to premium delicatessen products.

Two digital displays show the Weight, Unit Price and Total Price to the Operator and Customer at the same time.
World Scale The Console The Console consists of: ♦ The Level Indicator ♦ The Operator Display ♦ The Status Display ♦ The Keypad The Level Indicator On the left side of the Console is a Level Indicator. When the bubble inside is directly in the center of the circle, the scale is level. Refer to Leveling the Scale in this chapter. The Operator Display The Operator Display Screen is where you will see the results of the action you have performed with the scale.

World Scale Mechanical Procedures You will need to familiarize yourself with the following Mechanical Procedures in your World Scale: ♦ Short PRESS/Long PRESS (Beeps) ♦ Sleep/Wake Modes Short PRESS/Long PRESS (Beeps) The World Scale requires two types of touch when pressing certain keys on the Console: Short PRESS = PRESS and release. You will hear one beep. Long PRESS = PRESS and hold until you hear a second beep.
World Scale To select Wake mode: 1. Short PRESS the Display Test key. 2. The Status Display Screen will appear. 3. The Operator Display Screen will appear, showing all zeroes. WC30 WP30 Installation and Setup The following topics are covered: ♦ Setting Up the Scale ♦ Electrical Connections ♦ Zero Weight Setting Up the Scale Immediately after unpacking, check for possible shipping damage. If this unit is damaged, save the packaging material and contact the carrier within 15 days of delivery.
World Scale Leveling the Scale QUICK STEPS Leveling the Scale 1. Locate Level Indicator 2. Adjust Scale Feet till bubble is centered Electrical Connections On the left side of the Console is a Level Indicator. When the bubble inside is directly in the center of the circle, the scale is level. There are four Scale Feet located underneath the scale system. You may need to adjust these feet slightly in the event the scale is not sitting properly.

World Scale Zero Weight Make sure that the scale is at zero before weighing any product by Rezeroing the Scale. Remember, if you have a Tare in the scale’s memory, you will see the Tare amount as a negative number instead of zero. Tip Look for the Zero Indicator (→0←) on the upper left side of the Operator Display Screen. If it is not present, then Rezero the scale. Rezeroing the Scale If you find the scale is not at zero and it is not due to a Tare amount, then you must Rezero the scale.

World Scale Using Tare (WP30) You have the following options available on your WP30 Portion Control Scale: ♦ Platter Tare (WP30) ♦ Cumulative Tare (WP30) ♦ Cancelling a Tare (WP30) Note • • • The Tare is retained until you cancel it. If you have a Tare in the scale’s memory and the scale goes into Sleep mode, the Tare will be lost. When you have a Tare in the World Scale’s memory, you will see a left arrow ( ) on the left side of the Operator Display Screen, next to the word “net”.
World Scale Cumulative Tare (WP30) Use Cumulative Tare when you are weighing multiple products to be packaged together, such as a raw vegetable medley. QUICK STEPS Cumulative Tare (WP30) To use Cumulative Tare: 1. Place empty container on scale 2. Short PRESS [→T←] 3. Place product into container 4. Net Weight displays 5. Leave container and product on scale 6. Repeat Steps 2-5 till finished 7. Remove product and container 8. Cancel Tare, if needed 1. Place the empty container onto the scale. 2.
World Scale Price Computing Scale WC30 There are several options available when weighing a product.
World Scale Using Prices (WC30) Your WC30 Price Computing Scale has the ability to weigh an item with a price. You can perform the following tasks: ♦ Weighing With a Unit Price (WC30) ♦ Retaining a Unit Price (WC30) ♦ Cancelling a Unit Price (WC30) You can also use a Unit Price in conjunction with a Tare. Refer to the next topic, Using Tare (WC30), for an explanation.
World Scale Tip When you have a Unit Price in the scale’s memory, you will see a LEFT ARROW ( ) on the Operator Display Screen next to the word “save”. Retaining a Tare (WC30) 1. 2. You would want to retain a Tare when you are weighing many packages of the same type product, with the same packaging (i.e., the Tare is always the same amount). Note • • • The Tare is retained until you cancel it. The Total Price is retained until you cancel it.
World Scale 5. TYPE the Unit Price (if different) using a Short PRESS on the Keypad. 6. Remove the product and the container. 7. Repeat Steps 4 through 6 until all packages have been weighed. 8. World Scale Keypad-Entered Tare (WC30) Use the Keypad to enter the Tare amount to the World Scale when you are weighing a prepackaged product. World Scale Using the Add and Multiplier Keys (WC30) The Add key gives you the ability to accumulate the Total Price for more than one package, with or without a weight, of different products. The following topics are included: ♦ Adding Items (WC30) ♦ Multiplying By Count Items (WC30) ♦ Cancelling a Total Price (WC30) Adding Items (WC30) You may accumulate the Total Price of several items, weighed or not weighed.
World Scale 6. To view the Total Price, Short PRESS the [ADD] key. 7. The screen will display the number of items and Total Price. 8. Cancel the Total Price, if 1. necessary. See Cancelling a Total Price (WC30) in this chapter. Multiplying By Count Items (WC30) 2. Use the Multiplier Key [X] to calculate the Total Price of multiple packages. For example, the customer buys six candy bars for $1.00 each and three boxes of crackers for $2.00 each.

World Scale Programming PLU Speedkeys in Operator Mode (WC30) Speedkeys allow you to quickly access your fastest selling items with minimal keystrokes. They are set up so that one press results in several actions. Speedkeys 1 through 7 are visible on the Console. These can be programmed in Operator mode, if they have not already been set up in Supervisor mode.

Assign a Unit Price to the PLU (if required). a) TYPE the Unit Price using a Short PRESS on the Keypad. b) Long PRESS the PLU key you have selected to be for Random Weight Product (for example, the [PLU7] key). 3. Remove the container. 4. Short PRESS the [C] key to clear the Unit Price, if necessary. 5. Short PRESS the TARE key to clear any Tare. Assigning a PLU Speedkey (17) for a By Count Product (WC30) This function is helpful to minimize key presses on fast-selling By Count items.
World Scale Using the PLU Speedkeys (WC30) After you have programmed the PLU Speedkeys, you will find it most convenient to use this feature. No longer will you have to repeatedly key in the Unit Price or Tare for your top-selling Random Weight or By Count items. World Scale Using PLUs 8-30 (WC30) The rest of your PLU keys (8 through 30) are in the World Scale’s memory and are accessible by the blue PLU key on the Console. Once these PLUs have been programmed through Supervisor mode, you will find it most convenient to use this feature. As with Speedkeys 1 through 7, you now can easily work with your topselling items. World Scale Using the Half- and Quarter-Pound Keys (X2/X4) (WC30) For items that are normally purchased in small quantities, such as caviar or fudge, the World Scale offers two keys to quickly calculate a price per half- or quarter-pound. Note You may be required to disable the Half- and Quarter-pound keys, when using your World Scale for commercial trade, due to local Weights and Measures regulations. World Scale Function Codes Function Codes contain the actual values which determine how your World Scale operates. The following Function Codes are available in your World Scale as indicated. Look At This To insure proper operation, use only recommended Function Values where indicated with an asterisk (*).
World Scale Examples of Navigating Supervisor Mode The following examples will give you a better understanding of how to navigate in Supervisor mode. Use the Function Keys and Function Codes as shown on the previous page to better understand the examples. The first example, Turn the Keyboard Beeper Off, is a good way to start. The second example, Changing the Duration of a Long PRESS, shows how to change a Function Value with multiple digits. This will benefit WP30 Users.
World Scale Changing the Duration of a Long PRESS 1. Enter Supervisor mode according to your scale’s instructions. See Entering Supervisor Mode (WP30) or Entering Supervisor Mode (WC30). 2. Long PRESS the RIGHT ARROW [ ] key until you get to Function Code 29. 3. Short PRESS the [C] key. This tells the World Scale that you are going to change the Function Value.
World Scale Programming a PLU (WC30) You may program a By Count PLU or a Random Weight PLU. Refer to the two examples, Programming a By Count PLU (WC30) and Programming a Random Weight PLU (WC30). When you are programming a PLU, you must navigate to Function Code 100 plus the PLU number. For the examples below, we will use PLU 5, which is Function Code 105. Refer to the Function Codes table for further information.
World Scale Programming a Random Weight PLU (WC30) 1. Enter Supervisor mode according to WC30 instructions. See Entering Supervisor Mode (WC30). 2. Long PRESS the RIGHT ARROW [ ] key until you get to the Function Code (Sub-Function zero = Unit Price) for the PLU you wish to program. In this example, we will use PLU 5. 3. Short PRESS the [C] key. This tells the World Scale that you are going to change the Function Value. 4. Change the Function Value of the Unit Price by using a Short PRESS on the keypad.

World Scale Maintaining Your World Scale Cleaning & Sanitizing The following topics are covered: ♦ Cleaning & Sanitizing ♦ Troubleshooting The World Scale has been designed and manufactured to resist scratches, stains, alkaline, protein and food acid when cared for properly. Improper care can permanently damage the electronics and printer. Proper cleaning prolongs the life and productivity of your World Scale.
World Scale Troubleshooting In the event that your World Scale does not operate as expected, perform the following steps: 1. Check your Error Code and take the action described in the table of Error Codes below. Also see Error Messages. 2. If a persistent error message appears, or the scale locks up, disconnect, then reconnect, the scale to the power supply. 3. If the problem still exists, please check Possible System Problems later in this chapter. 4.
World Scale Error Messages Your World Scale has a series of Error Messages which show up on your screen as symbols. If your Console displays one of the first three errors below, contact your local Hobart Service Office. Possible System Problems If the scale does not function as described, or the steps below do not resolve the problem, contact your local Hobart Service Office for recalibration, service or repair.
World Scale Glossary -AAccess Code A code that allows you to access Supervisor mode in the World Scale (WC30). -BBy Count An item that is priced by the number of items per package (i.e., 3 for $1.00) rather than by weight. -DDisplay Test Key The key, Scale. , which allows you to communicate with your World -FFixed Weight Item An item priced by a predetermined weight (i.e., bread is always 16 oz.).
World Scale -OOperator Display Screen This screen is where you will see the results of the action you have performed with the scale. For example, if you have placed a product on the scale, the weight will be shown. -RRandom Weight Item An item that needs to be weighed before it can be priced. Retained Tare A Tare value entered into the World Scale’s memory that is saved. -SShort PRESS In World Scale, you have two different keystrokes for PRESS.
World Scale -WWeighing Platter The flat metal surface on top of the World Scale where an item is placed to be weighed. -ZZero Weight The World Scale displays a weight of zero when nothing is on the scale.
