5 . Adding a COM port
You can add an incom ing port t hat receives a connect ion from a Bluet ooth device, or you can add an out going port
that m akes a connect ion to a Bluet oot h device. To connect t o a Bluetooth device using a COM port, follow these
st eps:
1.
Use the port configuration options in Device Manager t o set the COM port configur at ion.
For the corr ect dat a rat e and for other set t ings, see t he docum ent at ion for t he progr am t hat you want t o
use over t he connect ion.
2.
Set the COM port in t he progr am to t he port num ber that is specified on t he last page of t he Add Bluet ooth
Device Wizard.
This port num ber is also listed on the COM Por t s tab in Bluetooth Devices.
Bluet oot h devices that use a COM port require special program s on your com put er. These program s are t ypically
included wit h the device. You can also obt ain t hese program s from t he device m anufacturers. To set up your
pr ogr am t o use a COM port , follow the inst ructions in the program docum entat ion.

then click Prope r t ies, you see t he sam e device propert ies as you would see in Device Manager.
