• 3856-01•3856-02 is the software to do basic controls
and measurements through PC. The software will also
add to the instrument extra functions of long-term data
recording and data printing.
• Installing the 3856-01•3856-02 will not affect the elec-
tronic characteristics, the specifications, the functions,
and the operations of the instrument. After installing the
software, it is able to use the instrument by itself or use
it with PC through a communication port.
• For the instrument set up and operations, please refer
to the following instruction manuals.
7016 SIGNAL SOURCE
3801-50, 3802-50 DIGITAL HiTESTER
When you receive the product, inspect it carefully to en-
sure that no damage occurred during shipping. If damage
is evident, or if it fails to operate according to the specifi-
cations, contact your dealer or Hioki representative.
Before Using the software, please read these notes care-
fully.
• HIOKI E.E. CORPORATION is the author of 3856-
01•3856-02.
• Except for the purposes of processing data from the
7016, 3801-50, 3802-50 copying, reproduction, or
amendment in whole or in part of 3856-01•3856-02 is
prohibited by law.
• For the purpose of product development, the 3856-
01•3856-02 are subject to upgradeing without notice.
• To publish material referencing the 3856-01•3856-02,
the prior consent of Hioki is required. The trade mark
"HIOKI" may not be used.
• Hioki cannot accept any responsibility whatever for the
results of a customers operation of the 3856-01•3856-
02.
CD-R
• Always hold the disc by the edges, so as not to make
fingerprints on the disc or scratch the printing.
• Never touch the recorded side of the disc. Do not place
the disc directly on anything hard.
• Do not wet the disc with volatile alcohol or water, as
there is a possibility of the label printing disappearing.
• To write on the disc label surface, use a spirit-based felt
pen. Do not use a ball-point pen or hard-tipped pen,
because there is a danger of scratching the surface and
corrupting the data. Do not use adhesive labels.
• Do not expose the disc directly to the sun's rays, or
keep it in conditions of high temperature or humidity, as
there is a danger of warping, with consequent loss of
data.
• To remove dirt, dust, or fingerprints from the disc, wipe
with a dry cloth, or use a CD cleaner. Always wipe radi-
ally from the inside to the outside, and do no wipe with
circular movements. Never use abrasives or solvent
cleaners.
• Hioki shall not be held liable for any problems with a
computer system that arises from the use of this CD-R,
or for any problem related to the purchase of a Hioki
product.
General Specifications
Connect the 7016, 3801-50, 3802-50 with the personal
computer by the optional connection cable. Confirm the
direction of connector when fixing the cable to the holster.

For numerical settings, please adjust the settings on your
PC so that the period [.] is used to represent the decimal
point, and the comma [,] is used to separate groups of
thousands.
Hardware Connection
Software Installation
• Set the 7016 communications settings to 9600 bps, 8
bits and no parity.
• Set up the 3801-50, 3802-50 as follows.
Baud Rate: 9600, Parity Check: None, Data Length: 8
bit, Response: OFF, Data Output: OFF
1. When using the 3856-02, install the USB driver.
1Connect the USB connector of the cable to an avail-
able USB port on the computer and the other end o
f
the cable connects to the instrument (7016, 3801-
50, 3802-50).
(See the instruction manual for the details.)
2The computer will find the USB cable and show a
massage to install the USB driver of the device.
3Insert the CD-ROM to a CD-ROM drive, then
choose the path [\USB-Serial Cable driver] and click
[
OK] button to install the driver.
4The computer is added a virtual RS-232 COM port
when completing all installation processes. Check
the COM status from the Control Panel of the Win-
dows OS.
1. When installing the software for Model 7016
-1.Move to the CD-ROM drive in which the CD-R is in-
serted. And run [
\7016\ENG\SETUP.EXE].
-2.Run [Start]-[Program]-[PCLINK]-[HIOKI 3856].

2. When installing the software for Model 3801-50, 3802-50
-1. Move to the CD-ROM drive in which the CD-R is in-
serted. And run [
\3801-50_3802-50\SETUP.EXE].

ware
].
