VACUUM PUMP OIL
Working in basements and crawl spaces all day, you’re bound to get dirty. And so is your
vacuum pump’s oil. Oil is the lifeblood of the hilmor® Vacuum Pump, absorbing moisture and
contaminants from the system. Clean oil means longer life for the pump and deeper, faster
vacuum pulls. Use the sight glass on the Vacuum Pump to check oil color. As the oil absorbs
contaminants, it becomes dirty and/or cloudy. For best results, we recommend changing the
Vacuum Pump Oil after every use of the pump. Always use hilmor® Vacuum Pump Oil in hilmor®
Vacuum Pumps.
OIL CHANGE INSTRUCTIONS:
For best results, drain oil from the Vacuum Pump immediately after evacuation to ensure that the pump is still warm
and contaminants are still floating in the oil.
1. Turn Vacuum Pump o.
2. Remove the oil drain plug and drain contaminated oil into a container. Tilt the Vacuum Pump forward slightly to remove
the residual oil. Dispose of the oil properly.
3. Reattach the oil drain cap. Remove the oil fill cap, and fill the oil reservoir with new hilmor® Vacuum Pump Oil until oil
level has reached between the Min and Max markings on the sight glass.
4. Replace the oil fill cap.
IF OIL IS BADLY CONTAMINATED,
FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO FLUSH:
1. Drain any oil in the Vacuum Pump, following the steps above.
2. Remove the oil reservoir for cleaning by removing the four screws that hold it to the Vacuum Pump.
3. Remove the oil reservoir and wipe with a clean rag.
4. Reassemble the reservoir by carefully placing the gasket into the groove, being careful not to pinch the gasket.
5. Replace all four screws, and make sure the oil reservoir is tightly attached to the pump.
6. Refill with oil and check for leaks.
7. Let the pump run until it is warmed up.
8. Turn the pump o, then change the oil following the steps above.
