Working with the user dictionary
To work with the user dictionary on your PC, first remove the SD card from the Attaché.
With a card reader you can transfer the user dictionary from the card to your PC. The user-
dict.txt data can be opened with the Microsoft Excel program. You can now work on or
extend the data.
The data user.dict.txt has two columns: In the left column you can enter the headword and
in the right the translation (see diag. XIV). Please enter only normal text into the cells, not
Excel forms. Text qualities such as bold print will be ignored. Save your changes and take
care that the data type of the dictionary must always be unicode text.
Restoring the user dictionary
To copy the data of userdict.txt back onto your Hexaglot Attaché, please insert the SD card
into the Attaché because this contains the required user dictionary. MENU
Download/Upload Upload. Press enter to access the main menu and in the user diction-
ary select Download/Upload and then Upload.
ATTENTION:
This procedure will overwrite the entire contents of the current user dictionary in the Hexag-
lot Attaché irretrievably.
Technical notes
The Hexaglot Attaché supports the following two data types on the SD card: firstly, epc to
download supplementary dictionaries and secondly, userdict.txt for back ups of the user
dictionary. To help you, a data item named userdict.txt is already listed in the main index of
the SD card for the back up of the user dictionary. In the event of the data item missing due
to data security, a new txt data item can be set up automatically by the Attaché.
NOTE:
Before working on the user dictionary on the PC you should always create a current back up
copy on the SD card so that you are really working on the most up-to-date- version of your
user dictionary in the Attaché.
ATTENTION:
We recommend that you reserve an SD card solely for use with the Hexaglot Attaché. To
avoid possible malfunctions, do not use this card with other devices, e.g. digital cameras or
MP3 players.
