Favorites
in the topic to learn
The left display key Sort also helps you select Favorites in the topic to learn. Use it to order
entries in the Favorites list, i.e. in any new order you wish. This is a practical function when,
e.g., you wish to bring together several examples of phrases from different topics to prepare
a model for a conversation.
- First select your topic Favorites from the topic list.
- The Favorites entries for the topic will appear in a list.
- Now select the required entry with ▼ ▲ or or the number keys.
- Then press the left display key Sort and the entry will begin to blink.
- Use the ▼ or ▲ key to place the entry above or below.
- Press the left key Sort again or enter to confirm the new position. To end the sorting
process with no changes press esc.
Test mode
The test mode of the Hexaglot Attaché works on the principle of learning from record cards.
Imagine a box of record cards with several sections (you can determine the number of
"sections" in the Learn mode configuration of the Attaché. When you start all vocabulary will
come before the first divider. After every test the vocabulary wanders between the sections,
i.e. known vocabulary goes into the higher section, unknown vocabulary goes into a lower
section or back to the first section.
When an item of vocabulary has landed in the last section (i.e. it has always been known) it
can be assumed that this item is now learnt. Vocabulary highlighted as "learnt" will then no
longer be tested. Vocabulary in the lower sections will be tested more often since it is likely
that they are not yet known. To begin the tests, start the Learn mode, select the required
topic and press the right display key Learn. If you wish you can reset all the learning statis-
tics for the topic.
In this case all the vocabulary will be sorted into the first section and count as "new". To
delete the learning statistics press the left display key Reset. After request for confirmation
all the numbers are rest to 0, which means that all the vocabulary is back in the first section.
Above right in the display appears the number of vocabulary items not yet learnt and the
total number of items for the current topic to learn. In test mode you will see the word to be
tested on the second line of the display and a separation line beneath it. Think about the
answer for the test word.
- The middle display key Skip passes over the test of this vocabulary item and marks it as
"learnt". Press the right display key Solve to see the solution, the matching dictionary en-
try. The dictionary entry now appears under the separation line. Now decide yourself
whether your solution was correct or not. If you knew the correct answer, press the right
display key Correct. The item of vocabulary "walks" into the next section and will be
tested again later until the item has reached the highest section and counts as "learnt". If
your answer was not correct, press the left display key Wrong. The item of vocabulary
"walks" into the next lower or first section and will be tested again later. The middle dis-
play key Exit or esc ends the test mode after a request for confirmation and returns to the
main menu of the Learn mode.
Learn mode configuration
In the Learn mode configuration you can decide how the test mode works according to your
needs. Press the middle display key Config. in the main menu of the Learn mode.
