Technology dictionary, the forward scroll will bring up the next entry alphabetically in the
same dictionary.
Following cross-reference
The Hexaglot Attaché allows words within a dictionary entry to be used as cross-references.
Press enter within the entry view. The colours of the first element within the entry are in-
verted (apart from phonetic lettering). Use the ▲ ▼ ◄ ► keys to move the marker within
the entry. Pressing enter again results in the word inversed being searched for in the dic-
tionary and, if available, displayed. If more than one matching entry is found, a selection list
is displayed from which the required entry can be selected.
NOTE:
If no matching entries are found, the alphabetically next word in the keyword list is sug-
gested – a question mark (?) is displayed in front of this entry to denote a suggestion. Note:
The cross-reference function does not work with entries from the user dictionary.
Highlighting word groups
You can also highlight word groups to use them in the cross-reference search. This is espe-
cially useful in English because unlike German there are many multi-word terms like "practi-
cal nurse" and "tenant farmer".
To highlight several words, press enter during the display.
- Move the highlighter within the entry to the first word of the required word group with the
keys ▲ ▼ ◄ ►.
- When the first word is highlighted press the left display key Highlight.
- By pressing ► you can select more words to highlight.
- By pressing ◄ you can reduce the area of text to be highlighted.
- To use the highlighted words as a cross-reference simply press the key enter.
- Press the Highlight display key again to end the highlighting of the word group.
- To end the cross-reference function completely press esc again.
TIP:
Highlighted word groups can also be pronounced for you. This only functions for English
words.
Displaying inflected word forms
You can display the most important inflections for a large number of dictionary entries with
verbs.
- To do this, press the right hand soft-key, Form, when an appropriate entry is open. This
display key only appears when actual word forms are available for the entry.
- Under some circumstances, the word forms can cover several pages; browse through the
display with ▲ ▼ ◄ or ► in order to display all the forms. The arrow keys that are pos-
sible at any time will be shown to you on the status bar.
- Press esc to return to the dictionary entry.
NOTE:
The list of inflections must always be considered in the light of the corresponding key word
entry, where more precise information on their usage is given. Under some circumstances
not all the forms are displayed, which prevents the list of word forms from becoming un-
wieldy.
