B. Tools and Supplies Needed
Tools and supplies normally required for installation:
Pliers
Phillips screwdriver
Tape measure
Crescent wrenches
Gas shuto valve
Non-corrosive leak check solution
3/4 in. wrench, 7/16 in. wrench
C. Inspect the Appliance and Components
• Remove the contents from the carton. Attached to the
burner are tags identifying the manufacturer name, serial
number, model number (including gas log size), BTU
ratings, gas type, etc.
• Review the attached tags before proceeding. Ensure
that all minimum replace dimension requirements are
achieved using one of the Tables in Section 1.B. See
Figure 2.1. Ensure the gas type provided in the replace
coincide with the gas type marked on the tag.

• Installation and use of any damaged appliance or
vent system component.
• Modication of the appliance or vent system.
• Installation other than as instructed by Heatmaster/
American Gas Log.
• Improper positioning of the gas logs or the glass
door.
• Installation and/or use of any component part not
approved by Heatmaster/American Gas Log.
Any such action may cause a re hazard.
