CAUTION AND WARNING To prevent injury and damage to your scale, please follow these instructions very carefully: • • • • • • • Do not transport the scale while tray is loaded. For accurate weighing the scale must be placed on a flat, stable surface. For accurate weighing, verify proper operation according to the procedure described in this manual before each use. Do not use in the presence of flammable materials. Operating at other voltages and frequencies than specified could damage the equipment.
SET UP / BATTERIES 553KL IMPORTANT To prevent falls or injury, place the scale securely far from the edge of the counter, table or other flat surface used to hold the scale. Do not let the scale touch the wall or any other object near or around the scale while it is in use. TAPE MEASURE For your convenience, a measuring tape is included with the 553KL scale.
QUICK START / OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 553KL QUICK START INSTRUCTIONS 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Place batteries in the battery compartment or plug the scale into the wall, as indicated above. Place the scale on a hard, flat surface for accuracy and safety in use. Press the ON/OFF button to start the scale. “88:88.8” and then “0:0.0” will appear on the display, along with “LB” and “OZ” (or “0.00 KG”). To change the units for use to KG, press the Kg/LB button once (for more information on KG, see below).
8. CALIBRATION 553KL This scale has been factory calibrated and does not require calibration prior to use. For maintenance, the calibration procedure may be performed using a known weight in kilograms. Note: Calibration weight must be no less than 11 lb (5 kg) and no more than 44 lb (20 kg). ACTION Press and hold the Kg/LB and ZERO/CLEAR buttons at the same time, then momentarily press the ON/OFF button to start the scale. When “CAL” appears in the display, release the Kg/LB and ZERO/CLEAR buttons.
2-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY 553KL What does the Warranty Cover? This Health o meter® Professional scale is warranted from date of purchase against defects of materials or in workmanship for a period of two (2) years. MONTAJE / PILAS 553KL IMPORTANTE A evitar que se cae el bebé o que se dañe la balanza, colóque la balanza seguramente lejos del lado de la mesa, la taquilla u otro superficie plano usado como base para la balanza. No déje que la balanza toque la pared ni cualquier otro objecto cerca a la balanza, durante su uso. BANDA DE MEDIDA Para su conveniencia, se incluye una banda de medida con la balanza 553KL.

CALIBRACIÓN 553KL Esta balanza ha sido calibrada en la fábrica y no necesita la calibración antes de su uso. A mantener la balanza el procedimiento de calibración puede realizarse con un peso conocido en kilogramos. Fije: El peso de calibración no debe ser inferior a 5 kg (11 lb) ni mayor de 20 kg (44 lb). ACCIÓN Apréte y mantenga apretados los botones Kg/LB y ZERO/CLEAR al mismo tiempo, entonces apréte momentáneamente el botón ON/OFF a encender la balanza.
