• Prepare garden plot and plant seeds, seedlings and young plants
• Unfold Harvest-Guard

to desired length (cut in sections if necessary)

loosely over seed bed or plants to allow plenty
of slack for plants which grow upright (like tomatoes and peppers)
• Secure Harvest-Guard
®
to ground every 6-8 feet using

• To protect crops from severe frost, use double layer
(e.g. – 25 foot length doubled will cover 12 ½ feet)
• Single layer protects as low as 29˚ F; double layer protects
as low as 26˚ F
For Best Results:
• For crops that must be pollinated, Harvest-Guard

should be
removed periodically during blossom-time
• Leave Harvest-Guard
®
in place until all danger of frost and
cool weather has passed
• Remove Harvest-Guard

from tomatoes and peppers, etc.
when mid-day temperatures consistently reach 80˚ F or higher,
(vining crops can tolerate slightly higher temperatures)

• Loosen the soil of the planting area with a garden rake or hoe
• Add fertilizer or lime as required before seeding for best results
• Apply seeds, rake into the loosened soil and then lightly pack the soil

evenly over seeded area, but do not stretch tight
• Secure Harvest-Guard
®
to ground every 6-8 feet using Dalen
®

• Water thoroughly through the Harvest-Guard,

keeping soil moist for 5-10 days
• Once grass is established, remove Harvest-Guard,

fold and store for future use
For Watering & Fertilizing Newly-Planted Grass:
• No need to remove Harvest-Guard

to water newly seeded lawns
• After grass has substantially germinated, liquid or water-soluble fertilizer may be
applied without removing Harvest-Guard
®
For Best Results:
• Use for spring and fall seeding
• Water immediately at the first sign of drying
• Do not lift/remove Harvest-Guard

until roots are developed enough to prevent pulling up the grass
• If grass begins growing through Harvest-Guard,

straight up
to disengage blades of grass from the fabric
