Hazard Statements: Causes eye irritation. May be harmful if swallowed.
Acute/Potential Health Effects:
EYES: Dusts may cause mechanical irritation, tearing, and blurred vision.
SKIN: No known acute effects.
INHALATION: Unlikely route of exposure. Avoid breathing dusts. High concentrations of dust may cause transient irritation to
the upper respiratory tract.
INGESTION: May be harmful if swallowed. Long-term high dose ingestion studies have demonstrated reproductive effects
in rats. NOAELs (No Observed Adverse Effect Levels) in rats for developmental effects on the fetus including fetal weight
loss is 55 mg boric/kg. Human studies of occupational exposure to borate dust showed no adverse effect to reproduction.
