Engine oil level
One of the following messages will appear on
the driver's display:
R
Messung läuft…: measurement of the oil level
is not yet possible.
#
Repeat the request after a maximum of
30 minutes' driving.
R
OK and the bar display for indicating the oil
level on the driver's display is green and is
between "min" and "max": the oil level is cor‐
rect.
R
Motoröl nachfüllen and the bar display for
indicating the oil level on the driver's display
is orange and is below "min":

Add 1 l of engine oil.
R
Motorölstand reduzieren and the bar display
for indicating the oil level on the driver's dis‐
play is orange and is above "max":
#
Drain off any excess engine oil that has been
added. To do so, consult a qualified specialist
workshop.

For engine oil level switch on ignition:
#
Switch on the ignition to check the engine oil
level.

Engine oil level System inoperative: the sen‐
sor is defective or not connected.

Consult a qualified specialist workshop.

Engine oil level currently inoperative:

Close the bonnet.
Topping up engine oil

WARNING Risk of burns from hot com‐
ponent parts in the engine compartment
Certain components in the engine compart‐
ment can be very hot, e.g. the engine, the
radiator and parts of the exhaust system.

Allow the engine to cool down and only
touch component parts described in
the following.

WARNING Risk of fire and injury from
engine oil
If engine oil comes into contact with hot
component parts in the engine compart‐
ment, it may ignite.
#
Make sure that no engine oil is spilled
next to the filler opening.
#
Allow the engine to cool off and thor‐
oughly clean the engine oil from compo‐
nent parts before starting the vehicle.

NOTE Engine damage caused by an
incorrect oil filter, incorrect oil or addi‐
tives
#
Do not use engine oils or oil filters
which do not correspond to the specifi‐
cations explicitly prescribed for the
service intervals.
#
Do not alter the engine oil or oil filter in
order to achieve longer change intervals
than prescribed.
#
Do not use additives.
