Function of Active Speed Limit Assist
If a change in the speed limit is detected and
automatic adoption of speed limits is activated,
the new speed is automatically adopted as the
stored speed (/ page 258).
The driven speed is adjusted when the vehicle is
level with the traffic sign at the latest. In the
case of signs indicating entry into an urban area,
the speed is adapted according to the speed
permitted within the urban area. The speed limit
display in the Instrument Display is always upda‐
ted when the vehicle is level with the traffic sign.
If you are driving on German motorways and
there is no speed limit, the system uses the
speed stored on an unlimited stretch of road as
the recommended speed. If you do not alter the
stored speed on an unlimited stretch of road, the
recommended speed is 130 km/h.
If Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC has been
put into passive mode by pressing the accelera‐
tor pedal, only speed limits which are higher
than the set speed are adopted.
The maximum permissible speed does not take
the road condition and current weather and traf‐
fic conditions into account. Adjust your speed
accordingly, when necessary.
Observe the notes on driving systems and your
responsibility; you may otherwise fail to recog‐
nise dangers (/ page 203).
System limits
The system limits of Traffic Sign Assist apply to
the detection of traffic signs (/ page 256).
