Installation/Attachment Precautions
1. Assemble only according to these
instructions. Improper assembly can create
hazards. Carefully measure and follow
all steps and adjustment instructions.
2. Raise the front of the trailer WHENEVER
tension will be applied or released from
the Connection Brackets (3).
3. Adjust both chains to equal length.
4. When applying or releasing tension
from the Brackets, use the Handle (5)
supplied and handle carefully.
5. The Spring Bars (4) MUST be removed if the
trailer is not attached.
Check local regulations to determine if
other components can be left in place or
must also be temporarily removed.
6. Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles and
heavy-duty work gloves during assembly.
7. Keep assembly area clean and well lit.
8. Keep bystanders out of the area during assembly.
9. Do not assemble when tired or when under
the influence of drugs or medication.
10. Install in accord with DOT regulations.
Operation Precautions
1. Adjust Chains (7) to equal length,
secure the Spring Clips (18) and adjust
according to this manual before use.
2. This product is not a toy. Do not allow
children to play with or near this item.
3. Use as intended only.
4. Inspect before every use; do not use
if parts are loose or damaged.
5. Do not exceed rated capacities of
Hitch – see Specifications chart.
6. Maintain product labels and nameplates.
These carry important safety information. If
unreadable or missing, contact Harbor
Freight Tools for a replacement.
7. Carefully load trailer according to trailer
supplier’s instructions, whether a weight
distributing hitch is used or not.
8. Use in accord with DOT regulations.
Service Precautions
1. Have Hitch serviced by a qualified repair person
using only identical replacement parts. This will
ensure that the safety of the hitch is maintained.
2. Do not use damaged equipment. If
abnormal noise or vibration occurs, have the
problem corrected before further use.
