User Guide

OPERATION
Turn the meter on and
select the measurement
mode: pH or EC/TDS.
Dip the probe in the
sample to be mea-
sured. Under no cir-
cumstances the im-
mersion shall be
above the max. level
indicated above. Stir
gently until the display
shows a stable read-
ing. The EC/TDS dis-
played value is refer-
enced to 25°C (77°F).
When testing a new sample, it is
recommended to rinse the probe
with some of the sample itself prior
to measurement. This prevents like-
lihood of cross-contamination.
When not in use,
switch the

off.
pH CALIBRATION
Turn the meter on and
set the switch to the
pH mode.
Dip the probe in a
pH 7.01 buffer solu-
tion (HI 771P or
HI 772P). Allow the
reading to stabilize
and using a small
screwdriver slowly
turn the pH Calibra-
tion Trimmer to read
7.0”.
EC/TDS CALIBRATION
• Turn the meter on and
set the switch to the
ppm/mS mode.

MAINTENANCE
If the probe remains dry for a long
time, it is necessary to reactivate it
by immersing it in an HI70300 stor-
age solution for 4 hours before use.
The probe should also be rinsed
clean with plenty of
water after use.
If you need to replace
the electrode, use an
hexagon key to remove
the screw on the side
of the probe before
detaching it from the
meter.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
When the unit cannot be switched
on or the display segments fade, it
is necessary to replace all 3 x 1.4V
batteries.
Batteries should only be replaced in
a safe area using the battery type
specified in this instruction manual.
Loosen the upper
screw and slide off
the cover on the back
of the meter. Replace
all three batteries while
paying attention to their
polarity. Reinsert the
cover and tighten the screw.
It is recommended to recalibrate the
instrument whenever the batteries
are replaced.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USERS
Before using these products, ensure that they are
entirely suitable for the environment in which they
are used. Operation of these instruments in resi-
dential area could cause unacceptable interference
to radio and TV equipments, requiring the operator
to take all necessary steps to correct interferences.
Any variation introduced by the user to the supplied
equipment may degrade the instruments EMC per-
formance. To avoid electrical shock, do not use
these instruments when voltage at the measure-
ment surface exceeds 24VAC or 60VDC. To avoid
damage or burns, do not perform any measure-
ment in microwave ovens.
