buffer solution, the first one for rinsing the
electrode, the second one for calibration. By
doing this, contamination between the buffers
is minimized.
To get accurate readings, use pH 7.01 (or
pH 6.86) and pH 4.01 if you are going to
measure acid samples, or pH 7.01 and
pH 10.01 (or pH 9.18) for alkaline measure-
ments. A 3-point calibration can also be per-
formed (pH 7.01, 4.01 and 10.01).
Press the RANGE key to get into the pH mode.
Remove the protective cap from the elec-
trode and rinse it with some of the buffer
calibration solution you are going to use
first.
PROCEDURE
Rinse the electrode with some pH 7.01
(HI7007/HI8007) or pH 6.86 (HI7006/HI8006)
solution or clean water.
Dip the bottom 4 cm (1½")
of the electrode and the
temperature probe into a
beaker containing the 1
st
calibration solution (e.g.
pH 7.01).
Press the ALT and the CAL keys simulta-
neously. The secondary (lower) LCD will
show “7.01” to indicate that pH 7.01 is
expected and the electrode is getting con-
ditioned.
