pH MEASUREMENTS
To take a pH measurement
simply submerge the tip
(4 cm/1½") of the electrode
and the temperature probe into
the sample to be tested.
Turn the instrument on by pressing the ON
key.
The meter automatically defaults to the pH
measurement mode.
Allow 1 or 2 minutes for the electrode to stabilize.
In HI 931402 pH is displayed on the primary
display and temperature on the secondary
one, whereas in HI 931410 pH is displayed
on the left LCD.
In order to take accurate pH measurements,
make sure that the instrument has been cali-
brated for pH before use (see page 15).
In HI 931402, if the calibra-
tion data is lost or the meter
is not calibrated, the "CAL"
indicator is displayed to
prompt the user to perform a
calibration. If the user chooses
not to do it and presses the
CAL key to quit from the cali-
bration mode, the offset and
slope of the instrument are
set to 0 mV and 100% of the
theoretical value respectively.
