3 .2 . Safet y Recom m endat ions
The safe t y guideline s a re a s follow s:
λ Keep t he board area clear and dust- free before, during, and after inst allation.
λ Keep tools away from walk areas where you and others could fall over them .
λ Do not wear loose clot hing or j ew elry, such as earrings, bracelet s, or chains,
that could get caught in t he board.
λ Wear safet y glasses if you are w orking under any conditions t hat m ight be
hazardous t o your eyes.
λ Do not perform any act ion t hat creates a potential hazard t o people or m akes
the equipm ent unsafe.
λ Never at t em pt t o lift an object t hat is too heavy for one person t o handle.
3 .3 . Maint aining Sa fet y w it h Electricit y
W ar ning: Before w orkin g on a boa r d or w ork ing nea r pow e r supplies,
unplug t he pow er cor d on AC unit s; on DC un it s, disconne ct t he pow er at
t he circuit br ea k er .
Follow t hese guidelines when working on equipm ent powered by elect ricity:
λ Do not work alone if potent ially hazardous conditions exist anywhere in your
work space.
λ Never assum e t hat power is disconnect ed from a circuit ; always check t he
circuit.
ext ension cables, frayed power cords, and m issing safet y grounds.
λ I f an electrical accident occurs, proceed as follow s:
Use caution; do not becom e a vict im yourself.
Disconnect power from t he syst em .
I f possible, send another person t o get m edical aid. Otherwise, assess t he
condit ion of t he vict im and t hen call for help.
Determ ine if t he person needs rescue breathing or ext ernal cardiac
com pressions; t hen t ake appropriat e act ion.
