CLEANING THE SAMPLE HOSE
If HC HANG-UP has been observed, or
repeated PURGE tests have failed, it may be
necessary to clean the Sample Hose
Assembly. Remove the assembly from the
Gas Detector. Fill a container, large enough
to hold the entire Sample Hose Assembly,
with warm soapy water.
Completely submerge the assembly, taking
care to fill the hose. After three to five hours
of soaking, thoroughly rinse the assembly.
Use clean dry compressed air to dry the
interior of the Sample Hose Assembly.

CLEANING THE CENTER
The display window is made of cast acrylic
and has a non-glare coating. Clean it with
mild soap and water.
DO NOT use solvents to clean the window.
The keypad is a pressure sensitive
lamination of metallized plastic sheets with
small spaces between the contacts. It is very
durable, but it can be damaged by chemical
solvents. Clean with mild soap and water.
The metal parts of the cabinet are painted
with a durable epoxy coating. The bump
guards, mats and some other parts are made
of various plastics. The cabinet may be
cleaned with soaps or detergents.
DO NOT use solvents to clean the cabinet.
The Control Module and Gas Detector
module both have openings. DO NOT allow
liquids to enter these modules, as damage
may occur.
The oil temperature probe may be wiped
clean. The flexible metal jacket is not
watertight and should not be immersed in
cleaner.
This could damage the probe and possibly
introduce small amounts of solvent into the
crankcase of a vehicle being tested.
DO NOT SOAK THE OIL TEMPERATURE PROBE
IN
SOLVENTS.
DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR THAT
CONTAINS
OILS.
DO NOT TRY TO CLEAN THE HOSE WITH
SOLVENTS
DERIVED FROM PETROLEUM.
