3.Getting Started 3-1. Disassemble The Breast flange/Milk Collection Kit comes pre-assembled. All milk contact components must be disassembled, washed and sanitized. ¼ TURN PULL PULL UNTHREAD Questions? Please visit www.drbrownsbaby.
3-2. Wash Separate and wash all milk contact components by hand in warm water with mild detergent and rinse with clear water or place in the top rack of dishwasher. Sanitize parts before each use. 3-6. Tubing Care. The Tubing does not contact breastmilk. Tubing should only be washed if dirty or condensation is present. If the condensation is from a previous washing process, there is no need to wash again. Use warm soapy water and rinse with clean clear water.

5. Power Adaptor 5-1. Power Connection The power adapter supplied with this unit is polarized (one prong is larger than the other). Always connect to a polarized outlet. 6 VDC 115 V TO 6 VDC POWER ADAPTOR 5-2. Power Adapter Care To prevent damage to your power adapter cord, always grasp the body of the adapter as shown below. 6. Operating the Pump 6-1. Pumping Modes Two Modes are available: 1) Letdown Mode- Used to stimulates the release of milk from the breast. This mode helps prompt the reflex that happens when nerves in your breasts are stimulated (usually by your baby's sucking). 2) Expression Mode- Used after the breast is stimulated to release milk. 6-2.
6. Operating the Pump 6-2. Using Letdown Mode (continued) 1) Select the [Power Button] to turn the unit on. The pump will automatically display Letdown Mode at the last used vacuum level used (this pump has a memory feature that recalls the last used settings for both modes). 2) Adjust the vacuum level to your preferred comfort level using the Vacuum Level [Up] or [Down]. There are five settingsfrom which to choose, L1 thru L5. 3) Press the [Power Button] again to start pumping.
6-3. Using Expression Mode (continued) 4. Select the [Mode Selector Button]. When in Expression mode, the Letdown mode symbol will disappear. The pump will automatically start in the last used cycle and vacuum levels (this pump has a memory feature that recalls the last used settings for both modes). 5. Adjust the vacuum level to your preferred comfort level usingthe Vacuum Level [Up] or [Down]. There are twelve settings from which to choose, L1 thru L12. 6.
6. Operating the Pump 6-5. Placement of the Collection Assembly Center the breast Flange on your breast sothat the nipple is aligned with the tunnel portion. Make sure your breast completely fills the Flange to ensure a seal and that a vacuum can form. While you may feel some discomfort when first breast pumping, it should not cause pain. 6-6. Storing a Collection Assembly Often when double pumping, one side is finished before the other. The completed side may be removed from the breast and placed in the convenient half-moon bottle holders or large storage space in the back of the pump housing. The expandable netting will secure the bottle and assembly without risk of spillage. You will need to adjust the vacuum level after removing one collection unit from a breast to maintain performance and comfort level of the remaining unit.
7. Storing Breast Milk 7-1. Milk Storage Containers You may store expressed milk directly in the bottle after pumping. Simply unthread from the Collector assembly and attach a clean sterilized storage cap (included). We recommend you store milk in our disposable Dr. Brown’s™ Breastmilk Storage Bags (sold separately) for easy identification and space savings. Questions? Please visit www.drbrownsbaby.
7-2. Milk Storage Guidelines Guidelines Are for Home Use and Not for Hospital Use. Use the following guidelines for the storage of breastmilk. By following recommended storage and preparation techniques, nursing mothers and caretakers of breastfed infants and children can maintain the safety and quality of expressed breast milk for the health of the baby. These are general guidelines for storing breast milk at different temperatures.
8. Preparing & Feeding 8-1. Fresh Breast Milk If the milk is freshly expressed or thawed to feeding temperature, simply feed in a clean sanitized bottle. Discard any remaining milk after 2 hours. 8-2. Refrigerated Breast Milk Warm the milk to desired feeding temperature in a clean sanitized bottle. Place the sealed bottle in a bowl of warm water for 20 min to body temperature. CAUTION: Do Not Warm Breast Milk In The Microwave Or Boiling Water. 8-3.
