CAR AUDIO CHALLENGE 530 DAB _______________ The identity card facilitates criminal investigation by the police in case of radio theft and speeds settlement of an insurance claim by providing evidence of ownership. Note: Keep the card in a safe place, out of reach of unauthorised persons. DOUBLE SECURITY SYSTEM CODE If the code number is lost (identity card), only a dealer can put the radio back into operation after you provide proof of ownership and pay a fee.
CAR AUDIO CHALLENGE 530 DAB _______________ Security LED The security LED will flash if the radio is switched off and the ignition key is pulled off, provided the appropriate connection has been made (see page 42). To deactivate the security LED, follow the instructions given on page 34 in the “EXPERT control level” chapter. Extended functions (EXPERT) A special control level enables you to use extended functions beyond the level of the basic settings.
REMARKS AND SAFETY _____________________ Installing the car radio Please let install your car radio by a specialist. In doing this, you create the basis for a correct operation of your car radio. Installation hints are to be found from page 41. Traffic safety Before making a drive, please familiarise yourself with the various functions of the car radio. Operating your radio at too high volume while driving can endanger you and others in the traffic.

BASIC FUNCTIONS ______________________________ Switching on and off CD MONO BA FAD DANGER CONTROL 1 Press the »O« control knob to switch the radio on and off. LOUD EXPERT TRE BAL Note: If the radio is switched on with the ignition of the vehicle on, it is afterwards automatically switched off and on again with the ignition. To deactivate this function, see page 35, EXPERT control level. If the ignition is off, the radio switches off automatically after one hour to spare the car battery.

Note: If the »BA/FAD« or »TRE/BAL« button is pressed until the signal sounds, the respective function goes immediatelly to its normal setting. – Select the BASS function to change the bass setting.

BASIC SETTINGS __________________________________ Programme types (PTY) Many broadcasters offer the programme type service (PTY) in the FM range. For example, during a news flash, the programme type identification NEWS is broadcast. Using the PTY function it is possible to tune automatically to a station which is offering a preselected programme type, e.g. POP M. The programme types a radio station offers may change according to the programme being broadcast.

CD MODE WITH CD CHANGER ____________________ CD or DAT player connections If you have not connected a GRUNDIG CD changer, you may connect another CD or DAT (Digital Audio Tape) player via a GRUNDIG CDP adapter to the radio. AUX 1 Press the »CD« button. – Indication in the display: »AUX«. Note: Operation can only be controlled via the connected player. For this, see the operating instructions of the player. If traffic announcements are received, the CD or DAT play is interrupted .
EXPERT CONTROL LEVEL____________________ To make car radio operation as easy as possible, numerous “convenience” settings that you need only once or occasionally are located in an additional control level (EXPERT). CODING ________________________________________________ Your personal code number is to be found on the identity card of your car radio. Coding is not activated when the radio leaves the factory. If you have activated your car radio's coding, the radio is electronically blocked as soon as you disconnect it from the car battery (or permanent plus terminal 30). It then can only be put back into operation by entering your personal code number again.

INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL ________ Installing the mounting frame, the radio and the aerials Your dealer can advise you as to what installation materials you will need and what accessories are available. 1 Insert the mounting frame b into the cutout a of the vehicle (Fig. 1) (the figures are to be found on page 45). 2 Bend the tabs c behind the cutout a as required, that is, depending on the type of vehicle (Fig. 1). 3 Insert the radio all the way into the installed mounting frame b.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION _____________ Radio reception conditions Reception conditions change constantly while you are driving. Mountains, buildings or bridges can all disturb reception. This is particularly true when you are farther away from the station. Radio Data System (RDS) RDS is an information system offered by most FM broadcasters which transmits its signals along with the radio programme . If an RDS programme is received, the station name appears in the display, e.g. »ANTENNE«.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION _______________________ Troubleshooting If a fault occurs, please first follow the hints below before asking your specialized dealer to repair the radio. If the fault cannot be eliminated in this way, then contact your specialized dealer. Never try to repair your radio yourself. This will void the guarantee.
