Button click / buzzer settings
The purpose of this sub-menu is to adjust the settings for the audible sounder.
Button click: Every time you press a button you will hear a “click” sound to confirm your action. This
sound can be switched on (EIN) or off (AUS).
Buzzer: When the screen displays a warning, “completed” or an error message etc., the inte-
gral buzzer sounds at the same time to alert you. In this program point you can select
buzzer off (AUS), or the length (10 sec. or no time limt) of the audible warning.
Erase user settings
This menu provides the means to reset all the user settings
to their standard default values:
Initial power-on program : NiCd Automatik
NiCd Delta Peak : 20 mV / cell
NiMH Delta Peak : 15 mV / cell
Charge termination delay : 3 min
Safety timer : 120 min
Initial power-on current : 2.5 A (NiCd, NiMH, PB)
Car battery low voltage : 11.8 V
Button click : ON
Buzzer setting : 10 sec.

NiCd / NiMH charge termination delay
At the start of the charge process the unit initiates a delay time
which suppresses automatic charge termination during this
(delay) period.
This means: during this delay period the charge
voltage is
not monitored, and the battery is charged for at
least the set length of time! The charge termination delay is
only effective n the NiCd and NiMH charge programs.
Initial power-on current (NiCd, NiMH, Pb)
You can select the charge / discharge current which is to be
set automatically when the charger is connected to the car
battery. In this program segment the value can be set separa-
tely for each of the charge programs (NiCd, NiMH, LiIo, Pb
and charging output „Akku 2“).
Car battery low voltage cut-off
If the charger is connected to a car battery which is not
required to start a car engine at the end of the session, then
it is safe to discharge it to a lower level.
The charger allows you to set an alternative value of 10.5 V,
which enables you to exploit the maximum capacity of the car
battery without deep-discharging it excessively.
The unit does
not store the alternative setting, so you must
reset it (if required) every time you start using the charger.

NiCd / NiMH safety timer
When you start a charge process, the integral safety timer au-
tomatically starts running at the same time. The safety timer is
designed to prevent catastrophic overcharging of the battery
on charge if the pack proves to be faulty, or if the “battery full”
detection circuit malfunctions. The value you set for the safety
timer must be generous enough to allow a full charge of the
battery. As a practical guide we recommend a time which is about 30% longer than the expected charge
period; naturally, this varies according to the charge current you have set. Example: 1.8 Ah battery,
charge current 3.6 A -> charge time = 1.8 Ah / 3.6 A - 0.5 hours = 30 min +30% = safety timer =
40 min.
Warning: if you connect an already fully charged battery with the purpose of topping it up, it will be
charged for at least the delay time you have selected, and could then get very hot.
Caution - explosion hazard!

This is particularly useful if you always
use the same charge current, as it avoids
the necessity to select the value sepa-
rately each time you use the charger.
In any case we recommend that you set
a “starting point” value of 2.5 A, as this
avoids the need to run through the enti-
re range every time you start using the
charger.

Maximum Automatic current
In this program the charger detects the types of battery
connected and adjusts the charge current accordingly, to
avoid overcharging the pack.
The maximum charge current can be set using the INC /
DEC buttons
before you connect the battery to be
charged.
The charge process is terminated according to the values
set by the user for „NiCd Delta-Peak Termination Voltage“,
„Charge Termination Delay“ and „Safety Timer“.
