11. Flattop Peak Handrail
36 PNEG-1623 Roof Stairs and Handrail Assembly
105' Assembly Instructions (Refer to Page 37 for details.)
1. Loosely assemble five (5) handrail posts (LDR-4332) with upper (LDR-4329), lower and
intermediate (LDR-4328) handrails connecting the posts as shown in the typical post view
on Page 37.
2. Loosely assemble entrance posts (LDR-4337) to the handrails using the upper L.H. (LDR-4335)
and R.H. (LDR-4334) brackets and four (4) lower brackets (LDR-4336) as shown in the entrance
view on Page 37.
3. Field fitting must be done to connect the entrance posts to the upper post of the top four (4) step
stair package. Cutting and field drilling on LDR-4338 and LDR-4339 is required for a good fit.
4. The flattop handrail posts should be equally spaced on the flattop as shown in the upper view
on Page 37 . Detail A on Page 37 shows the welding procedure required to fit the posts to the flattop.
5. Be sure and tighten all hardware. NOTE: 5/16" Hardware is used in all for all connections.
Use a 5/16" washer for slotted connections.
NOTE: Because of catwalks and conveyors, altering of the handrail may be required. Posts may need
to be excluded if this is the case. Longer of shorter field fabricated handrails may be required to
ensure the handrail wraps completely around the flattop. Paint any non-galvanized surfaces (for
instance, welds) to ensure rusting is kept to a minimum.
