IMPORTANT INFORMATION No car seat can guarantee protection from injury in every situation, but proper use helps reduce the risk of serious injury or death. ❃ Registration Information Child restraints (car seats) could be recalled for safety reasons. You must register this restraint to be reached in a recall. Fill out the registration card attached to car seat and mail today or send your name, address, and the restraint’s model number and manufacturing date to: Graco Children’s Products 150 Oaklands Blvd.
WARNINGS - Prevent serious injury or death: Failure to follow these instructions and car seat labels can result in child striking the vehicle’s interior during a sudden stop or crash. Secure child restraint with a vehicle seat belt or LATCH as shown in this manual. Select a suitable location for the car seat in your vehicle. Use car seat rear-facing only. Serious crippling injury or death can result if infant faces front of vehicle. Vehicle seat belt system MUST hold car seat securely.
WARNINGS - Prevent serious injury or death (continued): Car seat must be properly leveled: • Too reclined can result in injury or ejection. Strangulation Hazard: Child can strangle in loose harness straps. Never leave child in carrier when straps are loose or undone. • Too upright can result in breathing difficulties. Never leave infant unattended, even when sleeping. Fall Hazard: Child’s movement can slide carrier. Never place carrier near edges of countertops, tables or other elevated surfaces.
BASIC INFORMATION WARNING DO NOT use rear-facing car seat in a vehicle seating position equipped with an air bag. ❃ Certification This car seat meets or exceeds all applicable requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213 for use in motor vehicles and aircraft. ❃ Unoccupied Car Seat Always secure car seat with a vehicle seat belt or LATCH, even when unoccupied. An unsecured car seat can injure passengers.
BASIC INFORMATION (continued) ❃ Car Seat Useful Life DO NOT use after date shown on back of car seat due to changing requirements and normal wear and tear. Look for: Do not use this car seat after December Year ❃ Vehicle Seat Protection Protect vehicle seat. Use a car seat mat, towel or thin blanket under and behind car seat. ❃ Warm Weather Car seat parts can get very hot in the sun or warm weather. To avoid burns, always check before putting child in car seat.
WHAT IS LATCH? United States Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards have defined a new system for installing car seats in vehicles. The system is called LATCH. LATCH stands for: Lower Anchorage and Tether for CH ildren. Typical seat in a passenger vehicle. Other vehicle types may have different LATCH locations or different markings. LATCH System for Vehicles: Some vehicle owner manuals use the term ISOFIX to identify the new car seat anchorage system.
HEIGHT & WEIGHT LIMITS This car seat is designed for rear-facing use ONLY by an infant whose: • Weight is less than 22 lbs (10 kg) and; • Height is less than 29 inches (73.6 cm) ❃ Preterm or Low Birth Weight Infants A preterm or low birth weight infant may be at special risk in a vehicle or aircraft. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, these infants may suffer breathing difficulties if improperly reclined in a car seat.

Make sure the ROD is threaded through the same loop position on both sides. DO NOT twist harness strap. 2 3-Point Models : Make sure tongue and chest clip are on harness strap as shown (fig. m). Adjust harness strap length by inserting metal rod into loops that will position harness strap for proper snugness (fig. p).

Belt must lay flat and not be twisted. 3 For ease of installation, extend LATCH belt to its maximum length. 4 5 6 Check that the lower anchorage belt stays tight and does not slip from the tightened position. PLACING CHILD IN CAR SEAT 1 Place child in car seat with child’s back flat against back of car seat. 2 Place harness straps over child’s shoulders and insert tongue(s) into buckle to lock. WARNING To prevent serious injury or death: • Keep harness straps snug and positioned on shoulders. A snug strap should not allow any slack. It lies in a relatively straight line without sagging. It does not press on the child’s flesh or push the child’s body into an unnatural position. Periodically check adjustments.

Pull up on buckle to be sure it is locked. • To unbuckle: Press red button and pull buckle tongue out. 5-Point Models • To buckle: Insert both tongues into buckle. VEHICLE SEAT BELTS WARNING Not all vehicle seat belts can be used with a car seat. The car seat must be held securely at all times by a lap belt (or lap belt portion of a lap/shoulder belt) that will not loosen while driving. To provide the most secure installation of the car seat: • Read the vehicle owner’s manual regarding car seat installation and seat belt use with car seat. • Follow all instruction labels on vehicle seat belt and car seat.
VEHICLE SEAT BELTS (continued) ❃ Belts Forward of Seat Crease Vehicle seat belts located forward of seat crease may not securely hold car seat. Check vehicle owner’s manual or see vehicle dealer for car seat installation requirements. Seat Crease • If approved for use with car seat, install car seat and check for secure installation by pulling car seat front to back. If car seat slides forward, DO NOT use these seat belts.
VEHICLE SEAT BELTS (continued) ❃ Lap Belts - Manually Adjustable The locking latch plate on some seat belts may slip and loosen after being buckled on car seat if positioned at a certain angle. If this happens, flip latch plate over (fig. a) and re-buckle. Test installation again to see if this works. If not, move car seat to another seating position. Flip ❃ Lap Belts - With Retractor Lap belts with retractors may or may not hold a car seat securely. (fig.
VEHICLE SEAT BELTS (continued) ❃ Passive Restraint - Lap Belt with Motorized Shoulder Belt DO NOT use with any car seat. ❃ Passive Restraint - Lap or Shoulder Belt Mounted on Door DO NOT use with any car seat. Belts will not stay tight while driving.
VEHICLE SEAT BELTS (continued) ❃ Combination Lap/Shoulder Belt with Sliding Latch Plate Pull on latch plate (fig. b). If belt slides freely through latch plate, a locking clip MUST be used (see Locking Clip section). Pull Some combination lap/shoulder belts with sliding latch plates may be converted into an “automatic locking mode” that will allow use without a locking clip. See vehicle owner’s manual and label on vehicle belts for instructions. (fig.
VEHICLE SEAT BELTS (continued) ❃ Locking Clip WARNING Avoid serious injury or death: • Failure to use locking clip where required will result in car seat not being securely held in place. • Remove locking clip from seat belts when not being used with car seat. • DO NOT use locking clip as a vehicle seat belt shortener. You MUST use locking clip provided with car seat with a vehicle seat belt that slides freely through the latch plate or the lap belt cannot be tightly secured.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ❃ Care & Cleaning Seat Pad: Machine-wash separately in cold water on delicate cycle and drip dry. Harness straps and LATCH straps: Surface wash only with mild soap and damp cloth. If harness or LATCH straps are frayed or heavily soiled, they MUST be replaced. Shell: Wipe with mild solution of soap and water. Avoid wetting labels. Never use “household detergents”: they can weaken plastic. Buckle: Rinse buckle with warm water. DO NOT use household detergents. Never lubricate buckle.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ❃ Aircraft Use This car seat is certified for use on aircraft (see label on car seat). Contact airline about their policy. Use this car seat only on forward-facing aircraft seats. (continued) ❃ LATCH Storage Hook LATCH ends to storage bars on back of seat. Pull adjustment belt tight. Roll up loose end of adjustment belt and wrap with elastic loop sewn on inside of seat pad. Install car seat on an aircraft the same way it is installed in a vehicle.

Este sistema se denomina LATCH, que son las siglas en inglés de: Asiento típico en un vehículo de pasajeros. Otros tipos de vehículos pueden tener otras ubicaciones para el sistema LATCH. LIMITES DE ESTATURA Y PESO Este asiento para el automóvil está diseñado solamente para ser usado orientado hacia atrás por bebés de corta edad: • que pesen menos de 22 libras (10 kg) y; • cuya estatura sea de 29 pulgadas (73,6 cm) o menos ❃ Bebés prematuros o que pesen menos de lo normal al nacer Los bebés prematuros o que pesen menos de lo normal al nacer pueden correr un riesgo especial en un automóvil o un avión.

Tire de la hebilla para asegurarse de que está trabada. • Para desabrochar: Oprima el botón rojo y jale la lengüeta de la hebilla. Modelos con 5 puntos • Para abrocharla: inserte ambas lengüetas en la hebilla. Tire de las lengüetas para asegurarse de que están trabadas. • Para desabrocharla: oprima el botón rojo y tire de las lengüetas del arnés para sacarlas de la hebilla.

CINTURONES DE SEGURIDAD DE LOS VEHICULOS ADVERTENCIA No todos los cinturones de seguridad de los vehículos pueden usarse con un asiento para el automóvil. El asiento para el automóvil debe estar bien sujeto en todo momento por un cinturón de regazo (o la porción de regazo de un cinturón de regazo/hombro) cuya longitud no cambie durante el viaje.

Consulte el manual del propietario del vehículo o al vendedor para ver los requisitos para la instalación de un asiento para el automóvil.
CINTURONES DE SEGURIDAD DE LOS VEHICULOS (cont) ❃ Cinturones de regazo – Ajustables manualmente La placa de cierre inmovilizadora de algunos cinturones de seguridad puede moverse y aflojarse después de haber sido abrochada al asiento para el automóvil si se coloca en un determinado ángulo. Si esto ocurre, voltee la placa de cierre (fig. a) y vuelva a abrocharla. Compruebe la instalación de nuevo para ver si esto funciona. Si no, mueva el asiento para el automóvil a otra posición.
CINTURONES DE SEGURIDAD DE LOS VEHICULOS (cont) ❃ Sistema pasivo – Cinturón de regazo con cinturón para hombros motorizado NO lo use con ningún asiento para el automóvil. ❃ Sistema pasivo – Cinturón de regazo u hombro montado en la puerta NO lo use con ningún asiento para el automóvil. Los cinturones no permanecerán apretados durante el viaje.

CINTURONES DE SEGURIDAD DE LOS VEHICULOS (cont) ❃ Abrazadera de inmovilización ADVERTENCIA Evite las lesiones graves o la muerte: • El no usar la abrazadera de inmovilización donde sea requerida dará como resultado que el asiento para el automóvil no esté correctamente sujeto. • Quite la abrazadera de inmovilización de los cinturones de seguridad cuando no sean utilizados con un asiento para el automóvil. • No use la abrazadera de inmovilización como un medio para acortar el cinturón del vehículo.
INFORMACION ADICIONAL ❃ Cuidado y limpieza Almohadilla del asiento: Lavar a máquina por separado, en el ciclo de delicados, y déjela secar al aire. Correas del arnés y correas del LATCH: Límpielas solamente en su superficie con jabón neutro y un paño húmedo. Si las correas del arnés o LATCH están debilitadas o muy sucias, DEBEN ser reemplazadas. Cascarón: Límpielo con una solución suave de agua y jabón. Evite mojar las etiquetas. No utilice nunca detergentes para el hogar: pueden debilitar el plástico.
