AGracovoltageisolationsystemmusthavethe
followingfeatures:
•Anisolationenclosurethatpreventspersonsfrom
makingcontactwiththehighvoltagecomponents
beforethesystemvoltageisdischarged.All
componentsoftheisolationsystemthatare
chargedtohighvoltagemustbecontainedwithin
theenclosure.
•Ableedresistortodrainoffthesystemvoltage
whenthespraygunisnotinuse.Ametalpartof
theuidsupplyunitmustbeelectricallyconnected
tothebleedresistor.
•Asafetyinterlockthatautomaticallydischargesthe
systemvoltagewhenanyoneopenstheisolation
enclosure.

andcloses.Severearcingwillshortenthelifeof

Highvelocityairexhaustwilldecreasetheoperating
efciencyoftheelectrostaticsystem.Theminimum
allowableairexhaustvelocityis60linearft/min(18.3
linearmeters/minute).
