First,checkthesystemforanyvisiblefaultsorerrors
tohelpisolatewhetherthespraygun,uidhoseor
voltageisolationsystemhasfailed.Avoltageprobe
andmeter,partno.245277,ishelpfulfordiagnosing
voltageproblemsandisrequiredforsomeofthe
troubleshootingteststhatfollow.
1.Checkthatalloftheairanduidtubesandhoses
areproperlyconnected.
2.Checkthatthevoltageisolationsystemvalves
andcontrolsareproperlysetforoperation.
3.Checkthattheinterioroftheisolatedenclosure
isclean.
4.Checkthatthespraygunandvoltageisolation
systemhavesufcientairpressure.
5.CheckthatthegunESON/OFFvalveisinthe
ONpositionandthatthegunESindicatorlight
ison.IftheESindicatorlightisnoton,remove
thespraygunforserviceandcompletethe
ElectricalTests,page39.
6.Checkthatthevoltageisolationsystem's
enclosuredoorisclosedandthatanysafety
interlocksareengagedandworkingproperly.
7.Makesurethevoltageisolationsystemisin
the“isolate”mode,whereitisisolatingtheuid
voltagefromground.
8.Toeliminateairgapsintheuidcolumn,spray
enoughuidtopurgetheairoutbetweenthe
voltageisolationsystemandthespraygun.An
airgapintheuidhosecanbreaktheelectrical
continuitybetweenthespraygunandtheisolated
uidsupplyandcausealowvoltagereadingon
avoltagemeterconnectedtotheisolateduid
supply.
9.Checkthesprayguncoverandbarrelfor
accumulatedoverspray.Excessiveoverspray
cancreateaconductivepathbacktothe
groundedgunhandle.Installanewguncover
andcleantheexteriorofthegun.
10.Inspecttheentiresystemforanyvisibleuid
leakageandrepairanyuidleaksthatarefound.
Payspecialattentiontothefollowingareas:
Packingareaofthespraygun.
Fluidhose:checkforleakageoranybulgesin
theoutercover,whichmayindicateaninternal
leak.
