7.3.2 Catalog of Object Types – Device Types
This catalog saves you the trouble of repeatedly entering identical
object and device types which only vary with regard to their re-
spective manufacturers or type designations.
Object types from this catalog can be used when entering DUTs
and test sequences.
Designation
Device designation regardless of manufacturer,
device category (see section 7.3.1)
Manufacturer
Name of the manufacturer
Type des. Manufacturer-specific type designation within a device
category

Type designations must be entered unambiguously. For
example, type S1000 can only come from manufacturer A or
B.
Identical type designations cannot be used for different manu-
facturers because this makes data exchange with
vFM / PS3 impossible.
New designations which are entered here are not added to
the accessible catalog of designations unless the object
type is subsequently saved.
Entering a New Object Type
When a new data record is entered, an object hierarchy must first
be selected if more than one has been activated (see also section
4.11.10)
Various device types can be entered here which may be listed under the same cat-
egory, but which come from different manufacturers and thus have different type
designations. When entering designations, previously entered categories and des-
ignations are displayed for possible selection. Manufacturer and type must be en-
tered directly with the keyboard. The new object type can only be created after all
of the fields in the “Basic Attributes” index card have been filled in.
