Insulation Resistance
Application
Insulation resistance must be measured for:
In order to assure that all insulation which is exposed to line
voltage is tested during this measurement, make sure that
switches, temperature regulators etc. are closed.
Definition
Insulation resistance is active resistance between the electrical
circuits of the device and its exposed conductive parts.
Measuring Method
Safety Class I (SC1)
Insulation resistance is measured between short-circuited mains
terminals and the protective conductor.
Safety Class II (SC2)
Insulation resistance is measured between short-circuited mains
terminals and external conductive parts which can be contacted
with the probe.
Parameters
The following parameters must be set before measurement:
Measuring range: 300 M, 30 M3 M300 k or auto
(automatic switching amongst the ranges)
•U
T
(test voltage): 500 V, 400 V, 300 V, 200 V or 100 V
Measurement duration: 5 s, 10 s, 15 s, 30 s or continuous
Measurement type:
– SC1 with mains plug
– SC2 with mains plug
– Permanent connection
– Extension cable
In order to select the correct type of connection:
Select the measurement type and check the associated wiring
diagram after accessing it with the help function.
