4.11.4 Auto-Backup – Automatic Database Backup
If the “Auto-Backup” function has been activated in setup, data
are saved to a CF card before the test system is shut down.
The following prerequisites must be fulfilled:
• A CF card with adequate capacity must be inserted.
• Backup must be acknowledged by tapping “OK”.
Sequence
Before the backup is started, you are once again prompted to
acknowledge by tapping “OK”. If a CF card with adequate
memory capacity is inserted, the following file is created in the
“SecuStar-Autobackup” directory on the CF card:
“autobackup_YYYY-MM-DD-XXX.db.bak”
where YYYY = year, MM = month and DD = day.
XXX = consecutive number beginning with 000.
Example
If this directory already contains a backup file with the file name
“autobackup_2006-06-26-007.db.bak”, the next file will be
named “autobackup_2006-06-26-008.db.bak”, assuming that
the second backup was also created on the 26
th
of June, 2006.
Multiple Backup Files
The generation of only a single backup has the following
disadvantage: If a faulty or incomplete database is generated
during the backup process, this is the only existing version which
can be used for restoring data. The more backups are created
over a long period of time, the less critical this danger becomes.
The number of backup versions (default setting = 5 backups) can
be selected in the setup menu to this end.
Each time the selected maximum number of backup files is
exceeded, the oldest backup file is overwritten.
No backup is created in the following cases:
• The auto-backup function is deactivated in the setup menu.
• No CF card has been inserted (an error message appears).
• Memory capacity is insufficient (an error message appears).
Remedy: Insert another CF card or reduce the number of
backup versions.
•
The backup function is skipped by tapping “Ignore”.
4.11.5 Restore – Restoring the Database
Restoring an existing database is advisable under the following
conditions:
• You are using several test systems and want them all to have
the same database.
• After data loss has occurred
