with Update, Backup, Restore and DB Init Operations
Selecting Files and Directories – Test System Explorer
After clicking the icons for Backup, Restore or Update, the root level
of the compact flash card is displayed as a default feature.
“/cf” appears to the right of Directory. If directories are available
here, they’re identified under Filename with brackets and under
Type with Dir. You can switch to a directory by clicking it, after
which “/cf/directory_name” appears. After tapping the “..” soft-
keys, the display is returned to the root level.
The otherwise common scroll bar for displaying further data is replaced
here with
Continue
and
Back
keys.
4.11.3 Backup – Database Backup
Save your measurement data and database entries to a PC at
regular intervals in order to prevent any possible data loss.
The generation of only a single backup has the following disad-
vantage: If a faulty or incomplete database is generated during the
backup process, this is the only existing version which can be
used for restoring data. The more backups are created over a
long period of time, the less critical this danger becomes (see
section 4.11.4).
The active database in test system RAM can be temporarily saved
to a compact flash card to this end using the predefined file name
(secustar.db.bak), and the backup file can be saved to a PC later.
In order to save data to the compact flash card, it must first be
inserted. Data backup is not possible if a card has not been
nserted.
Attention!
!
Any data included on the CF card from previous backups
are overwritten. Such data are irretrievably lost in this case!
A prompt must first be answered by tapping “Yes” or “No”.
We assume no liability for data loss.
Attention!
!
The generated backup files are restricted in their usability for
the respective software version of the test system. If the test
instrument is updated to another software version, there is
no guarantee that the backup files generated with the previ-
ous software version can be restored with the „Restore
command! Execute the data export function before instal-
ling an update for this reason, in order to save all data in a
version independent fashion as an XML file (see section
7.7.5).
