7.4.2 Catalog of Test Step Specifications
A test sequence is made up of several test steps. The test step
specifications included in this catalog can be used when test se-
quences are created. A test step can be a measurement, a visual
inspection, a test instruction, an external measurement or a time
sequence.
Designation
Name or abbreviation for the individual test.
This designation appears in the automatic sequence
under test step.
Class Measurement or multiple measurement, time
sequence, external measurement, visual inspection or
test instruction
Entering a New Test Step Specification
The following selections must be made, one after the other, when
entering new test step specifications:
r Class (type of test step):
measurement / visual inspection / test instruction / external
measurement / time sequence
r If measurement or multiple measurement is selected: measur-
ing function (type of measuring instrument)
The designation of the selected measuring function is automatically
supplemented with a consecutive number.
The designation of a test step specification, no matter whether it
refers to a measurement, multiple measurement, visual inspec-
tion, test instruction, time sequence or external measurement,
can always be altered at your discretion.
The designations “visual inspection” or “test instruction” can be
supplemented or replaced with an alphanumeric term when they
are first entered.
During initial entry of test step specifications of the “visual inspec-
tion” class, the order of the visual inspection queries can be
changed as desired in the measurement templates index card
with the scroll keys at the right, as long as at least two visual in-
spection queries have been selected. Beyond this, any previously
entered visual inspection query can be individually deleted using
the waste basket symbol at the right.
We recommend saving newly entered test step specifications at
regular intervals with the help of the Backup function in the
Setup menu (see section 4.11.3)
or via the data export func-
tion as an XML file which is independent of a version, see section 7.7.6
.
