RCD Test – Time to Trip Measurement for RCCBs Option
RCD Measurement Sequence
Ð Select the test: RCD Test softkey.
Ð Connect the
test system to a mains
outlet within the
appropriate RCD
circuit: .
Ð Select the measure-
ment type with the
RCD softkey.
Attention!
!
The RCD is tripped during measurement. In order to
prevent loss of data from data processing systems, back up
your data first, and switch off all power consumers.
If inductive power consumers are also switched off during
RCD tripping tests, voltage peaks may occur within the
respective circuit when tripping takes place. The fuses in
the test system may blow as a result.
Ð Start the test: Press the ONSTART key.
Ð After each reconnection to the mains, and as soon as the first
test is started, a mains connection test is executed (see
section 4.1.1).
Ð Time to trip is displayed after tripping the RCD.
If the RCCB is not tripped, we recommend an additional earth
resistance test with the PROFITESTONE test instrument.
PRCD Measurement Sequence
Ð Select the test: RCD Test softkey.
Ð Plug the PRCD into
the test socket at the
test system, connect
the probe to sockets
1 and 2 and contact
phase L at the PRCD
with the probe tip (al-
ways the bottom ter-
minal).
Ð Select the measurement type with the PRCD softkey.
Ð Start the test: Press the ONSTART key.
Execute the following steps when prompted to do so:
Ð After each reconnection to the mains, and as soon as the first
test is started, a mains connection test is executed (see
section 4.1.1).
Ð If the probe test has revealed that no probe was connected:
Connect the probe as described above.
Ð Switch on or activate the PRCD within 5 seconds (e.g. reset
button on PRCD), so that the PRCD can be activated when
energized with line voltage.
Ð The test is automatically ended and time to trip is displayed
after the PRCD is tripped.
If the PRCD was not switched on, or if N was contacted instead
of L at the PRCD with the probe, an error message is displayed
and “Error” appears at the display.
