RCD Test – Time to Trip Measurement for RCCBs Option
Definition
According to DIN VDE 0100, part 610:2004, substantiation must
provided that RCCBs are tripped at nominal residual current
within 400 ms (1000 ms for selective RCCBs).
RCD: Residual current device
PRCD: Portable residual current device (only those whose
protective conductor is not deactivated)
RCD Measurement
The test system is connected to the RCD under test by connecting
its mains cable to mains supply power.
In order to test RCD time to trip, the battery in the test system must
be charged adequately enough to span the duration during which
mains power is unavailable after the RCD has been tripped.
PRCD Measurement
The PRCD under test is plugged into the test socket at the
test system. The test system must be connected to the mains so
that line voltage can be switched to the PRCD during the test.
The phase must be contacted with the probe in order to trip the
PRCD.
Parameters
• Measuring range: 30 mA
• Measurement type: RCD or PRCD
