Initial Start-Up – Setup
Manual selection and entry of the IP address at the test system in the
event of communication problems between test system and the PC and in
the case of direct connection to the PC without connection to the com-
pany LAN
Normally you can skip this section and proceed with querying the
automatically selected IP address on page 31.
Ð Check the IP address at your PC:
Enter the “ipconfig” command to the DOS window to this end
(Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt).
The subnet mask indicates which digits of the IP address have to
be transferred without any changes, for example the subnet
decimal number 255 corresponds to hexadecimal FF, or
1111 1111 as a binary number.
Places which are occupied by a 1 must be transferred
unchanged, and places which are occupied by a 0 can be freely
selected.
For the example described above, this means that the IP address
for the test system can be set to 169.254.xxx.xxx.
Normally, a number is selected which only differs from the PC’s IP
address by one or a few final digits, for example 169.254.191.141.
Ð Enter the selected IP address to the uppermost entry field at
the test system.
Ð Enter the sequence of numbers for the PC’s subnet mask to
the net mask field.
Note
The manually selected IP address is overwritten after
restarting.
