10.2.1 Overview of Primary Test Sequences per DIN VDE 0701-0702
• Passive: e.g. lamps, cable reels, extension
and device connector cables
• Active: e.g. electrical heaters and motorized devices,
devices with controllers

In addition to insulation resistance measurement, as a measuring
method for protective conductor current measurement:
all exposed conductive parts are connected to the protective conductor.

Special case, IT network: If the PE terminal is not detected, the user is asked whether or
not measurement should be executed in the IT network. Testing is continued if the user
responds in the affirmative.

In addition to insulation resistance measurement:
exposed conductive parts are
not connected to the protective conductor
Note

Active leakage current measurements IPE differential cur-
rent and IPE direct protective conductor current result in
erroneous measurements in IT networks.
A function test can be executed immediately after passing each
VDE test. Click the Function softkey in the “Manual Test” main
menu to this end.
