 Patient Leakage Current
Definition
Patient leakage current is the current which flows to ground or PE
from the patient ports at the energized device via the patient. This
current can also be caused by inadvertent interference voltage at
the patient, and may flow to ground via the patient and an
isolated type F floating application part. Useful patient current is
excepted in both cases.
The AC and the DC component of the current is measured.
Parameters
• Measuring range: 300 A, 3 mA, 30 mA or auto
(automatic switching amongst the ranges)
• Test voltage Ut: 110 V ... 240 V,
selection of test voltage polarity: N/L or L/N
• Test current type: AC+DC TRMS, DC or AC
• Measurement duration: 5 s, 10 s, 15 s, 30 s or continuous
• Measurement type: patient leakage current (via test socket and
probe)
Direct Measuring Method
DUT mains plug connected to the test socket
Probe connected to sockets 1 and 2
