Insulation Resistance
Sequence
Safety class I devices
: The protective conductor test must already
have been passed as a prerequisite for the insulation resistance test.
Ð Select the test: R ISO softkey.
Ð Connect the DUT to the test socket, or connect the probe.
Ð Select measuring range, test voltage Ut and measurement du-
ration.
Ð Select the type of connection via measurement type.
Note
All switches at the device under test must be set to the on
position during measurement of insulation resistance, includ-
ing temperature controlled switches and temperature regula-
tors as well. Measurement must be performed in all program
stages for devices equipped with program controllers.
Ð Start the test: Press the ONSTART key.
Ð After each reconnection to the mains, and as soon as the first
test is started, a mains connection test is executed (see
section 4.1.1).
Attention!
!
Testing is conducted with up to 500 V. Current limiting is uti-
lized (I < 10 mA), but if the terminals (L and N) are touched,
electrical shock may occur which could result in conse-
quential accidents.
Note
Open-circuit voltage is always greater than nominal voltage.
Ð
Special case, SC2 connection: Contact exposed conductive parts
with the probe during measurement.
Ð
All measured values are displayed.
Ð
End the test: Press the
ONSTART
 key.
Ð
Read the measured value and compare it with the table of
allowable limit values.
Minimum Allowable Limit Values for Insulation Resistance
Notes Concerning Test Standard 0701-0702
If the measured value is less than 0.3 M for safety class I de-
vices which include a heating element, leakage current must be
measured as described on page 52, and this test must be
passed. The same applies to mains powered safety class II elec-
tronic devices if the required value of 2 M is not complied with.
In the case of safety class II devices, all exposed conductive parts
must be contacted with the probe, and insulation resistance must
be measured.
Batteries must be disconnected from their terminals during testing of bat-
tery powered devices.
