Data Loss
Execute an XML export before each update.
It is often no longer possible to read in older database
versions (filename.bak) after an update.
Database Backup during an Update
The database in the test system is overwritten during updating.
The contents of the database are reset to the contents which ex-
isted upon shipment from the factory. Any other data are lost.
An externally secured backup which was created before an up-
date can no longer be read in after the update.
During the update process, a safety query prompts you to per-
form a data export. We urgently recommend responding to the
prompt by tapping “Yes”.
Data are then saved in XML format, and the following file is cre-
ated on the inserted CF card:
preUpdateYYYY-MM-DD.xml
where YYYY = year, MM = month and DD = day.
If another XML file by the same name is already stored to the
card, it is overwritten.
As opposed to a backup file, an exported XML file can be read in
after the update regardless of which version it was created with.
The new file can then be re-imported after the update.
Attention!
!
Save the update file from your PC to the root directory on a
compact flash card. The file cannot otherwise be processed
by the test system. If you received the update as a ZIP file, it
must first be unzipped.
Update Sequence
Ð Register in the test system as „admin“.
Ð Insert the CF card into the slot at the back of the test system. If
the CF card is of the correct type, namely type II, and if the
system is able to access the card, the yellow LED at the
right-hand side of the slot lights up.
Ð
Change to the
Setup
 menu and tap the
Update
 symbol.
Ð You are prompted to perform a data export.
We urgently recommend you to follow this request.
Ð After completing the data export, you will receive a message
informing you that the XML file has been successfully created.
Ð The test system checks as to whether the update file is compat-
ible with the hardware.
The update starts automatically if the software is compatible. If
not, the update is interrupted and you will receive an error
message to this end.
