9 Interface Operation and Software
The multimeters are equipped with a Bluetooth
®
interface by
means of which they can establish connection to a PC, a smart-
phone (Android™) or a tablet (Android™).
9.1 Bluetooth
®
The receiving device must be equipped with Bluetooth
®
function-
ality or be connected to a Bluetooth
®
adapter with the following
minimum technical requirements: Bluetooth 4.2 + EDR, class 2.
The following Bluetooth
®
adapters for communication between
the METRAHIT IM XTRA BT / METRAHIT IM E-DRIVE BT and the PC have
already been successfully tested: Belkin F8T016NG, LOGI LINK
BT0007 and SITECOM CN-524 V2 001.
Activating and Deactivating the Interface
Note
Bluetooth
®
remains (de)activated even after the instru-
ment has been switched on/off.
➭ Press the MENU key.
➭ Press the General Setup softkey.
➭ Select the Interface menu with the scroll keys.
➭ Switch to the submenu with the help of the
scroll key.
➭ Select the Bluetooth parameter with the help of the
scroll
keys.
➭ Acknowledge the selected parameter by pressing the OK key.
➭ Change the respective number with the
scroll keys.
➭ Acknowledge your change with the OK key.

Configuring Interface Parameters
A PIN is used to protect the Bluetooth
®
connection. The PIN has
to be entered to the remote terminal when connection is estab-
lished.
Default PIN = 1234
Note
We recommend the use of an individualized PIN in order
to assure that no third parties can gain access to your
instruments.
➭ Press the MENU key.
➭ Press the General Setup softkey.
➭ Select the Interface menu with the
scroll keys.
➭ Switch to the submenu with the help of the
scroll key.
➭ Select the PIN parameter with the help of the
scroll keys.
➭ Acknowledge the selected parameter by pressing the OK key.
➭ Change the respective number with the
scroll keys.
➭ Acknowledge your change with the OK key.

Establishing a Bluetooth
®
Connection
Establish connection to your PC, smartphone (Android) or tablet
(Android) in the usual way for the respective system. Read the
documentation included with the device in this regard.
The following instructions are provided as an example for a PC
running Microsoft
®
Windows
®

Activate Bluetooth
®
at the device (see section 9.1 on page 56).
➭ Open the Windows
®
start menu.
➭ Click Settings.
The Windows Settings dialog opens.
➭ Click the Devices button.
The Devices dialog appears with the Bluetooth & other devices
window.
➭ In Windows
®
, click the Add Bluetooth or other device button in
the Add Bluetooth & other devices dialog.
The Add a device dialog appears.
➭ Click the Bluetooth button.
The system searches for Bluetooth
®
devices. After some
time, the device appears.
Note
If you have several multimeters, make sure that connec-
tion is established to the right multimeter!
The device name is helpful for the unequivocal identifica-
tion (see section 6.8 on page 14).
➭ Click the device.
You’re prompted to enter the device’s PIN.
➭
Enter the PIN. See section 9.1 on page 56 concerning the PIN.
➭ Click the Connect button.
Connection is established and acknowledged by a confirma-
tion message.
➭ Click the Finish button.
The devices are connected.
