Playlists and Annotations
You want to make sure that you’re making it easy for your
viewers to nd the content they’re looking for, and
navigate through it.
• Playlists, like metadata descriptions, are one way to
help viewers navigate through your content.
• Playlists can also help extend the lifespan of your
content by packaging it with more current videos.
• Using links in the description and annotations, direct
viewers to relevant playlists when a story breaks.
Annotations are also a great way to direct viewers to other
content - a single video or a complete playlist - that will
appeal to them on your channel.
• Make sure that your annotations do not block the
action in the video; if it is too distracting, it can do
more harm than good.
• Avoid having the viewer click away too early in the
video, instead direct them to the next video towards
the end.
• You can use annotations for calls to action -- whether
it is subscribe, ‘like,’ share, or leave a comment,
annotations help drive engagement.
Playlist and Annotation Example
• /nba - ‘Grin’s Big-Time Slam’
• For example, if a player is traded, link to a
playlist featuring older videos of that player’s
highlights.
