Launching a Channel
By utilizing best practices from the Creator Playbook
(including Calls to Action (CTAs), Annotations,
Cross-promotion and Collaboration, Regular Schedule
and Frequency, and Channel Page Optimization), you
can successfully launch a channel.
It is helpful to have an anchor channel from which
you can funnel viewers to your new channel, but
these techniques also apply for single channel
launches that collaborate/cross-promote with other
independent channels.
Cross-promotion, Collaboration, and Channel
Page Optimization
• Find similar and/or popular channels (whether
owned and operated or not) and co-create
content to acquire a new audience.
• Promote the new channel through your channel
design and channel feed (by interacting with the
video).
• Maintain authenticity! Make sure that the
cross-promotion and collaboration make sense
for your audience – researching other partners’
channels before collaborating is a key to success.
• Use annotations and links in your descriptions to
link videos and channels to together
• Maintain a regular upload schedule during the
collaboration or cross promotion.
• For example, /PBS used /PBSIdeaChannel to
cross-promote a smaller PBS channel,
/NationalFilmSociety, by collaborating and
interacting with the video in their feeds.
