Checklist: Before You Begin
Before you configure synchronization, gather the information you need from the
message security service, as well as your own LDAP server and mail server.
Use this checklist to be sure you have the information you need:
• Message Security Org Structure
• Message Security Administrator
• LDAP Structure Information
• LDAP Base DN
• LDAP Administrator
• LDAP Queries
• Org Mapping
• Mail Server
Each item on the checklist is detailed below.
Message Security Org Structure: Before you configure synchronization, set up
your org hierarchy in the message security service. You should create
organizations for all users you want to add. For more information about your org
hierarchy, see About the Organization Hierarchy and About Organization
Management in the Email Security Administration Guide.
Note: The directory sync utility does not create these organizations, so you will
need to add them beforehand.
Collect the structure and exact org names from the Administration Console:
Message Security Administrator: Note the administrator username and
password (or Xauth hashkey + admin address, if you are using Cross-
Authentication) for an administrator on the message security service. The
administrator needs read authority for All Standard Privileges, and write authority
for all Help Desk and User Settings.
