Air for condensing (cooling) is drawn through the out door coil by
a propeller fan, and is discharged vertically out the top of the
unit. The out door coil is designed for .0 st atic. No additional
rest riction (ductwork) shall be applied.
Conditioned air is drawn through the filter(s), field installed,
across the evaporat or coil and back into the conditioned space
by the indoor blower.
COM PRESSORS
Some H series package units use the Compliant Scroll compres-
sor, instead of traditional reciprocating compressors. St ill other
models use reciprocating compressors.
A scroll is an involut e spiral which, when matched with a mat ing
scroll form as show n, generates a series of crescent shaped gas
pockets bet ween t he t wo members.
During compression, one scroll remains st ationary (fixed scroll)
while the other form (orbiting scroll) is allowed t o orbit (but not
rot at e) around the first form.
As this motion occurs, the pockets between the t wo forms are
slowly pushed t o the cent er of the two scrolls while simult a-
neously being reduced in volume. When the pocket reaches the
center of the scroll form, t he gas, which is now at a high pres-
sure, is discharged out of a port locat ed at the cent er.
During compression, several pockets are being compressed si-
multaneously, result ing in a very smoot h process. Both the suc-
tion process (out er port ion of the scroll members) and the dis-
charge process (inner portion) are continuous.
Some design characteristics of the Compliant Scroll compressor
are:
Compliant Scroll compressors are more tolerant of liquid re-
frigerant .
NOTE: Even t hough the compressor section of a Scroll com-
pressor is more tolerant of liquid refrigerant , continued
floodback or flooded st art condit ions may wash oil from the
bearing surfaces causing premat ure bearing failure.
These scroll compressors use POE or polyolester oil which is
NOT compat iable wit h mineral oil based lubricants like 3GS.
POE oil must be used if additional oil is required.
Compliant scroll compressors perform "quiet" shut downs that
allow the compressor to rest art immediat ely without the need
for a time delay. This compressor will rest art even if the sys-
tem has not equalized.
NOTE: Operating pressures and amp draws may differ from
standard reciprocat ing compressors. This informat ion can be
found in the unit's Specification Sheets.
INDOOR BLOW ER M OTOR
All * PC15/ * PH16 model package units use a EEM blower motor.
The EEM motor is a 3 Phase brushless DC (single phase AC in-
put), ball bearing construction mot or with an int egral control
module wit h an internal FCC B EM I filter.
The EEM motor is cont inuously powered with line voltage. The
swit ched 24 volt cont rol signal is controlled by the t hermostat
in the cooling and heat pump mode.
ELECTRICAL W IRING
The units are designed for operation at the volt ages and hert z as
shown on the rating plate. All internal wiring is complet e. En-
sure t he pow er supply to the compressor contactor is brought
to t he unit as show n on the supplied unit wiring diagram. The
24V wiring must be connected bet w een the unit control panel
and the room thermost at.
