6 Installation Location
NOTE: These air handlers are designed f or indoor installa-
t ion only.
The ARUF**14** and ASPT**14** product lines may be inst alled
in one of t he upf low, downflow, horizont al lef t or horizont al
right orient at ions as shown in Figures 2, 3, 4 and 5. The unit
may be inst alled in upfl ow or horizont al lef t orient at ion as
shipped (ref er t o specif ic sect ions f or more inf ormat ion).
No f ield modif icat ions are mandat ory. However, t o obt ain
maximum ef ficiency, t he horizont al drip shield, side drain
pan and drain pan ext ension can be removed.
Side Drain Pan and Extension Removal: Ref er t o Figure 1,
remove t he t wo (2) screws t hat secure t he drip shield sup-
port bracket s t o t he condensat e collect ors (front and back).
Unsnap t he side drain pan f rom t he bot t om drain pan using
a screw driver or any small lever. The side drain pan, drip
shield bracket s and t he drain pan ext ension may now be
removed. From Figure 1, drain port labeled (A) is t he pri-
mary drain f or t his applicat ion and condensat e drain line
must be at t ached t o t his drain port . Drain port (a) is f or t he
secondary drain line (if used).

6.1 Upflow Installat ion

6.2 Horizontal Left Inst allat ion
No f ield modif icat ions are permissible f or t his applicat ion.
Inst all unit as shown in Figure 4.
Remove red plugs f rom side drain pan bef ore connect ing con-
densat e drain pipes. Use removed plug t o close drain port s
on vert ical drain pan. The bot t om right drain connect ion in
side drain pan is t he primary drain for t his applicat ion and
condensat e drain line must be at t ached t o t his drain connec-
t ion. The bot t om lef t drain connect ion in side drain pan is for
t he secondary drain line (if used).
In applicat ions where t he air handler is inst alled in t he hori-
zont al lef t posit ion, and t he ret urn air environment see hu-
midit y levels above 65% relat ive humidit y coupled wit h
t ot al ext ernal st at ic levels above 0. 5” e. s. p. , a condensat e
kit is available for f ield applicat ion. Kit nomenclat ure can
be f ound in Table 1.

6.3 Horizontal Right Inst allat ion / Downflow Inst allat ion
When inst alling unit in t he downf low posit ion t he appropriat e
(DFK) downf low kit is required t o prevent “ coil pan sweat -
ing” . The DFK kit is not supplied wit h t he air handl er and is
available t hrough your l ocal dist ribut or. See Table 2 f or t he
correct DFK and f ollow t he inst ruct ions provided f or inst alla-
t ion.
Side drain pan ext ension must be removed in t he downf low
and horizont al right applicat ions f or all model s except :
ARUF47D14**, ARUF61D14**, ASPT61D14**, ASPT49D14**.
