Installation and repair of this unit should be performed ONLY by individuals meeting the requirements of an “entry level technician”, at a minimum, as specified by the Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI).

2 Shipping Inspection Alw ays t ransport t he unit upright ; laying t he unit on it s side or t op during t ransit may cause equipment damage. The inst aller should inspect t he product upon receipt for shipping damage and subsequent invest igat ion is t he responsibilit y of t he carrier. The inst aller must verify t he model number, specificat ions, elect rical charact erist ics, and accessories are correct prior t o inst allat ion.

5.4 Clearances The unit clearance from a combust ible surface may be 0" . How ever, service clearance must t ake precedence. A minimum of 24" in front of t he unit for service clearance is required. Addit ional clearance on one side or t op w ill be required for elect rical w iring connect ions. Consult all appropriat e regulat ory codes prior t o det ermining final clearances.

6.3 Downflow/ Horizontal Right Installation MODEL LIST FOR DOWNFLOW KITS IM PORTANT NOTE: In t he dow nflow applicat ion, t o prevent coil pan “ sw eat ing” , a dow nflow kit (DFK) is available t hrough your local dist ribut or. The DFK is not supplied w it h t he air handler and is required by t he manufact urer on all dow nflow inst allat ions. See Table 1 for t he correct DFK and follow t he inst ruct ions provided for inst allat ion.

ACCESS PANEL CONFIGURATION FOR DOWNFLOW OR HORIZONTAL RIGHT Figure 9 7 Refrigerant Lines NOTE: Refrigerant t ubing must be rout ed t o allow adequat e access for servicing and maint enance of t he unit . This product is factory-shipped with R410A and dry nitrogen mixture gas under pressure. Use appropriate service tools and follow these instructions to prevent injury. Do not inst all t he air handler in a locat ion t hat violat es t he inst ruct ions provided w it h t he condenser.

7.3 Special Instructions Unit s w it hout a fact ory inst alled TXV come equipped w it h a flow rat or pist on for refrigerant expansion. For most inst allat ions w it h mat ching applicat ions, no change t o t he flow rat or pist on is required. How ever, in mix-mat ched applicat ions, a flow rat or pist on change may be required. See t he pist on kit chart (provided in t he lit erat ure packet ) or consult your local dist ribut or for det ails regarding mix-mat ched flow rat or pist on sizing.

8 Condensate Drain Lines The coil drain pan has a primary and a secondary drain w it h 3/ 4" NPT female connect ions. The connect ors required are 3/ 4" NPT male, eit her PVC or met al pipe, and should be hand t ight ened t o a t orque of no more t han 37 in-lbs. t o prevent damage t o t he drain pan connect ion. An insert ion dept h of approximat ely 3/ 8” t o 1/ 2” (3-5 t urns) should be expect ed at t his t orque. 1. Ensure drain pan hole is not obst ruct ed. 2.

Return Air Filters Each inst allat ion must include a ret urn air filt er. This filt ering may be performed at t he air handler using t he fact ory filt er rails or ext ernally such as a ret urn air filt er grille. When using t he fact ory filt er rails, a nominal 16x20x1” , 20x20x1” or 24x20x1” (act ual dimension must be less t han 23-½” x20” ) filt er can be inst alled on a B, C and D cabinet respect ively (t he cabinet size is t he sevent h let t er of t he model number).

.2 W ire Sizing Wire size is import ant t o t he operat ion of your equipment . Use t he follow ing check list w hen select ing t he appropriat e w ire size for your unit . • W ire used must carry the M inimum Circuit Ampacity (M CA) listed on the unit’s Series and Rating Plate. • Refer t o t he NEC (USA) or CSA (Canada) for w ire sizing. The unit M CA for t he air handler and t he opt ional elect ric heat kit can be found on t he unit Series and Rat ing Plat e.

12.5 Low Voltage Connections Several combinat ions of low volt age schemes are possible, depending on t he presence of a heat kit and w het her t he heat kit is single-st age or mult i-st age, w het her t he out door sect ion is an air condit ioner or heat pump, and w het her t he out door sect ion is single-st age or t w o-st age. The 24V-cont rol volt age connect s t he air handler t o t he room t hermost at and condenser. Low volt age w iring must be copper conduct ors.

SPLIT SYSTEMS AIR CONDITIONING AND HEAT PUMP HOMEOWNER’ S ROUTINE MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS We st rongly recommend a bi-annual maint enance checkup be performed before t he heat ing and cooling seasons begin by a qualified servicer. REPLACE OR CLEAN FILTER IM PORTANT NOTE: Never operat e unit w it hout a filt er inst alled as dust and lint w ill build up on int ernal part s result ing in loss of efficiency, equipment damage and possible fire.
