REPLACE OR CLEAN FILTER
IMPORTANT NOTE: Never operat e unit wit hout a f ilt er inst alled as dust and lint will build up on int ernal part s result ing in
loss of ef f iciency, equipment damage and possible f ire.
An indoor air f ilt er must be used wit h your comf ort syst em. A properly maint ained f ilt er will keep t he indoor coil of your
comf ort syst em clean. A dirt y coil could cause poor operat ion and/ or severe equipment damage.
Your air f ilt er or f ilt ers could be locat ed in your f urnace, in a blower unit , or in filt er grilles in your ceiling or wal ls. The
inst aller of your air condit ioner or heat pump can t ell you where your f ilt er(s) are, and how t o clean or replace t hem.
Check your f ilt er(s) at least once a mont h. When t hey are dirt y, replace or clean as required. Disposable t ype filt ers
should be replaced. Reusable t ype f ilt ers may be cleaned.
You may want t o ask your deal er about high ef ficiency f ilt ers. High ef f iciency f ilt ers are available in bot h elect ronic and
non-elect ronic t ypes. These filt ers can do a bet t er j ob of cat ching small airborne part icles.
MOTORS
Indoor and out door f an mot ors are permanent ly lubricat ed
and do not require addit ional oiling.
ALUMINUM INDOOR COIL CLEANING
(QUALIFIED SERVICER ONLY)
This unit is equipped wit h an aluminum t ube evaporat or
coil. The saf est way t o clean t he evaporat or coil is t o sim-
ply f lush t he coil wit h wat er. This cleaning pract ice remains as t he recommended cleaning met hod f or bot h copper t ube
and aluminum t ube resident ial evaporat or coils.
It has been det ermined t hat many coil cleaners and drain pan t ablet s cont ain corrosive chemicals t hat can be harmf ul t o
aluminum t ube and f in evaporat or coils. Even a one-t ime applicat ion of t hese corrosive chemicals can cause premat ure
aluminum evaporat or coil f ailure. Any cleaners t hat cont ain corrosive chemicals including, but not limit ed t o, chlorine
and hydroxides, should not be used.
An alt ernat e cleaning met hod is t o use one of t he product s list ed in TP-109* t o clean t he coils. The cleaners list ed are t he
only agent s deemed saf e and approved f or use t o clean round t ube aluminum coils. TP-109 is also available on t he web
sit e in Part ner Link > Service Tool kit .
NOTE: Ensure coils are rinsed well af t er use of any chemical cleaners.

BEFORE YOU CALL YOUR SERVICER
Check t he t hermost at t o conf irm t hat it is properly
set .
Wait 15 minut es. Some devices in t he out door unit or
in programmabl e t hermost at s will prevent compres-
sor operat ion f or awhile, and t hen reset aut omat i-
cally. Also, some power companies will inst all de-
vices which shut of f air condit ioners f or several min-
ut es on hot days. If you wait several minut es, t he
unit may begin operat ion on it s own.
Check t he elect rical panel for t ripped circuit breakers or f ailed f uses. Reset t he circuit breakers or replace f uses
as necessary.
Check t he disconnect swit ch near t he indoor f urnace or blower t o confirm t hat it is closed.
Check f or obst ruct ions on t he out door unit . Conf irm t hat it has not been covered on t he sides or t he t op. Remove
any obst ruct ion t hat can be safely removed. If t he unit is covered wit h dirt or debris, cal l a qualif ied servicer t o
clean it .
Check f or blockage of t he indoor air inlet s and out let s. Conf irm t hat t hey are open and have not been blocked by
obj ect s (rugs, curt ains or f urnit ure).
Check t he f ilt er. If it is dirt y, clean or replace it .
List en f or any unusual noise(s), ot her t han normal operat ing noise, t hat might be coming f rom t he out door unit . If
you hear unusual noise(s) coming f rom t he unit , call a qualif ied servicer.
