GROUP MMSI
AGroupCallprovidesamethodforcontactingmultiple
vesselswithacommoninterestbyusingoneDSCcall.
Thereisnolimitonthenumberoftimesyoucanchangethe
GroupMMSI.
To enter the Group MMSI
1. Select‘GROUPMMSI’fromtheMainMenuthenpress
the CALLbutton.
2. Usethe or keystoentertherstdigitofthe
‘GROUPMMSI’number.
3. PresstheCALLbuttontomovetothenextdigitposition.
4. Repeatuntilall9digitshavebeenentered.
5. Tocorrectanerrorduringentry,presstheCALLbutton
repeatedlytomovethecursorpositiontotheincorrect
digitthenusethe or keystochangethedigitat
thatlocation.
6. Whennished,pressandholdtheCALLbuttonto
conrmandreturntothemainmenu.
NOTE: IftheGroupMMSIeldalreadyhasanMMSI
number,pressandholdthe–keytocleartheMMSIeld.
YoucanthenenteranewGroupMMSInumber.
USER MMSI
TheUserMMSIisuniquetoeachradioandmustbeentered
toenablenormalDSCoperation-exceptforthereception
ofdistresscallswhichdonotrequireauserMMSI.
TheGX600DisshippedfromthefactorywiththeuserMMSI
‘un-programmed’.ItisuptotheusertoobtainavalidMMSI
fromtheappropriatelicensingauthorityandentertheMMSI
intotheradiotoenableDSCoperation.
IMPORTANT: Itisarequirementoftheregulationsthatthe
UserMMSIcanonlybeenteredONCE.Ifthereisaneedto
changetheMMSImorethanonceyouwillneedtocontact
yourauthorizedGMEservicecentreforadvice.Forthis
reasontakespecialcarewhenenteringyourUserMMSI
numbertoensureitisenteredcorrectlybeforesavingit.
To enter the 9 digit User MMSI number issued to
you by your local authority:
1. Select‘USERMMSI’fromtheMainMenuthenpressthe
CALLbutton.
2. Usethe or keystoentertherstdigitoftheUser
MMSInumber.
3. PresstheCALLbuttontomovetothenextdigitposition.
4. Repeatuntilall9digitshavebeenentered.
5. Tocorrectanerrorduringentry,presstheCALLbutton
repeatedlytomovethecursorpositiontotheincorrect
digitthenusethe or keystochangethedigitat
thatlocation.
6. Oncethe9digitUserMMSIhasbeenentered,
double
checktoensurethatthenumberiscorrect
then press
and hold the CALLbuttontostoreit.Theradiowill
returntothemainmenu.
CONNECTING A GPS RECEIVER OR
PLOTTER
YoucanconnectaGPSreceiverorGPSPlottertoyour
GX600D.AGPSreceiverwillprovideyourradiowithGPS
positionandtimereporting.ConnectingaGPSplotterwill
allowDSCpositionsofshipstobedisplayeddirectlyonyour
plotter.GPSconnectionsaremadethroughtheNMEAports
onyourradio.
NMEA PORTS
TheGX600DfeaturestwoNMEAportslabelledNMEA1
andNMEA2.Theseareavailableontherearpanel.NMEA
sentencesgeneratedbytheGX600Dwillappearonthe
outputofbothports.Inaddition,anyNMEAsentences
receivedattheinputofoneportwillbemirroredatthe
outputoftheotherport.
TheNMEABaudrateofeachportcanbesetseparately
fromwithintheSetupmenu.AvailableBaudratesare4800,
9600,19200and38400bps.
NMEA 0183 DATA
TheGX600DrecognisesthefollowingstandardNMEA
sentences.YoumayneedtoselectNMEA0183Input/
OutputusingtheinterfacesettingsonyourGPS,Plotteror
connecteddevice.
