DIRECTIONS FOR USE

cleaning or a light sandblasting. Thoroughly rinse with water and
allow to fully dry. Remove loose aggregate and prime with an
appropriate masonry primer. For concrete block, fill with a latex block
filler.
STEEL, GALVANIZED METAL AND ALUMINUM - Clean off
oils, then prime with an appropriate metal primer.
WEATHERED ALUMINUM AND VINYL SIDING - Remove dirt
and chalk. Prime with this product. If chalk remains after cleaning,
prime with an exterior primer. When repainting vinyl siding, never
use a color darker than the original color. Using a color darker than
the original siding color will result in warping of the vinyl siding.
WARNING! If you scrape, sand, or remove old paint, you may
release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST
CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE,
ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD
ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear an NIOSH-approved respirator
to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA
vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start, find out how to

www.epa.gov/lead.
QUALITY TOOLS FOR A QUALITY JOB
Use a quality 1/4” – 3/8” nap roller, nylon or polyester brush, paint
pad, or airless sprayer.
LET’S GET PAINTING
Mix thoroughly • Apply at package consistency • Thin only when
using an airless sprayer if necessary using 1/2 pint water per gallon •
Make sure the air, paint and the surface you are painting are above
50º F • Do not paint if rain, snow, heavy dew or lower temperatures
are expected within 48 hours of painting • Apply generously, no
overspreading • Certain colors may require more than one coat for
complete hide • Ventilate & provide warmth for normal drying.
1. Stir with a lifting motion for uniform color.
2. Dampen roller slightly with water.
3. Brush/Edge a 3”- 4” border on wall around all edges.
4. In small sections, spread paint in a W pattern, then fill in with
long, even strokes in the same direction.
5. Paint woodwork last with even strokes; paint away from the wet
edge.
LET’S CLEAN UP
Clean hands and tools with warm, soapy water • Clean spills right
away with a damp cloth • After 30 days or paint has fully cured, areas
may be washed with a non-abrasive, mild detergent.

Obtain professional advice before using. Close container after each use. FIRST AID: For skin contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water. If
any product remains, gently rub with petroleum jelly, vegetable or mineral/baby oil then wash again with soap and water. Repeat as needed.
Remove contaminated clothing. For eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention. If
swallowed, get medical attention immediately. If inhalation causes discomfort, remove to fresh air. If discomfort persists or breathing difficulty

SURFACE PREPARATION
PREPARING PAINTED SURFACES FOR A
PROFESSIONAL FINISH
Spackle holes or cracks • Lightly sand glossy areas.
Make sure all areas are clean, sound and free of flaking paint or any
substances such as oil, grease, dirt…anything that will get between
your surface and your paint. Prepare Previously Painted Surfaces
with a GLIDDEN primer.
IT’S TIME TO PRIME - PREPARING UNPAINTED
SURFACES
WALLBOARD - Joint compound must dry for two days before you
apply a GLIDDEN primer.
INTERIOR WOOD - Set nails and fill holes with latex spackle.
Sand lightly to a smooth surface, dust clean, then prime with a
GLIDDEN primer.
EXTERIOR WOOD - Sand lightly to a smooth surface, dust clean,
then prime with an exterior primer.
CONCRETE, PLASTER AND MASONRY - Cure for 30 days
before painting. “Slick poured” or pre-cast concrete needs chemical
