Troubleshooting Guide

Installations Tips
Cutting Glass Tile
o Tile must be face down so that pigment backing is cut first
Glass tile tends to chip or “tear-out” if not cut properly
o Cut tile backing with multiple slow and shallow passes for
the cleanest cut.
o Must use a wet tile saw with a new diamond tip blade
We recommend a wet saw that has a blade on a
pivoting “arm” and sliding “sled” platform (similar to
DeWalt model# D24000s)
Other styles of wet tile saws will accomplish proper
cutting, this is just an example of a highly efficient tile
saw for cutting 8mm thick glass tile.
o Tile saw must be stable and level, with minimal vibration
while operating.
o Make sure the water tray is filled with clean water to the
“fill” line.
o Make sure that the tile is held down firmly with very little
movement while cutting
If possible, use a straight edge “fence” as a guide
o If tear out occurs, you may also use masking/painters tape
to compress the backing of the tile in place
When cutting the tile, progress slowly to give loose
material time to clear before progressing.
Cutting ‘Squares’ out of the middle for an outlet (ex.)
Problem: Glass cracking while trying to cut squares from the middle or
side.
- Cutting squares in glass is difficult by nature and not unique to our
glass tile.
