Troubleshooting Guide
Installations Tips
Cutting Glass Tile
o Tile must be face down so that pigment backing is cut first
▪ Glass tile tends to chip or “tear-out” if not cut properly
o Cut tile backing with multiple slow and shallow passes for
the cleanest cut.
o Must use a wet tile saw with a new diamond tip blade
▪ We recommend a wet saw that has a blade on a
pivoting “arm” and sliding “sled” platform (similar to
DeWalt model# D24000s)
▪ Other styles of wet tile saws will accomplish proper
cutting, this is just an example of a highly efficient tile
saw for cutting 8mm thick glass tile.
o Tile saw must be stable and level, with minimal vibration
while operating.
o Make sure the water tray is filled with clean water to the
“fill” line.
o Make sure that the tile is held down firmly with very little
movement while cutting
▪ If possible, use a straight edge “fence” as a guide
o If tear out occurs, you may also use masking/painters’ tape
to compress the backing of the tile in place
▪ When cutting the tile, progress slowly to give loose
material time to clear before progressing.
Cutting ‘Squares’ out of the middle for an outlet (ex.)
Problem: Glass cracking while trying to cut squares from the middle or
side.
- Cutting squares in glass is difficult by nature and not unique to our
glass tile.
