14.9.3 Mode

The Mode submenu contains commands which let you change the color mode of the image. There are three modes.
14.9.3.1 Activating the Submenu
You can access this submenu from the image menubar through Image Mode.

RGB
Grayscale
Indexed
Compose
Decompose
14.9.4 RGB mode
The RGB command converts your image to RGB mode. See the RGB description in the Glossary for more information. Normally,
you work in this mode, which is well-adapted to the screen. It is possible to convert an RGB image to Grayscale or Indexed
mode, but be careful: once you have saved the image, you can no longer retrieve the RGB colors, so you should work on a copy
of your image.
14.9.4.1 Activating the command
You can access this command from the image menu bar through Image Mode RGB.
14.9.5 Grayscale mode
You can use the Grayscale command to convert your image to grayscale with 256 levels of gray, from 0 (black) to 255 (white).
